| Description | This is one of my favorite SCI shows that I have. During this part of the spring 1999 tour the Tiny Universe horn section (Karl Denson & Carlos Washington) toured with SCI and made guest appearances every night! The horns truly help SCI's music to reach new heights.
The sound on this particular April Fool's Day show is excellent, as is the performance. MLT with the horns is amazing. The Little Hands with Karl Denson on flute (and the jam that follows) is one of my favorite versions of that song. You can tell from the recording that the band is having a great time at this intimate venue near the University of Kansas. Pass this show around.

Notes:
-This is thought to be a SBD/AUD Matrix mix because there is noticeable crowd noise at certain points.
-There is a fade out after d1t08.MLT. This is how the original CDs were received.
-There is a fade out after d2t02.Black Clouds. This is how the original CDs were received. This fade is fine because it's at set break.
-There is a fade out after d3t01.Little Hands. This is how the original CDs were received. This was the place for the original disc split between d2 and d3. This is not a good place for a fade out b/c a few seconds of music may be missed. Little Hands was moved to d3 for better continuity of the music. This is as good as this is going to get. Aside from the bad fade, the end result is very good.
-A pop was removed at the very beginning of the Little Hands track, before the music started. This was done with Cool Edit Pro.
-Fades were added to the beginning and ending of each set with Cool Edit Pro.

thanks for filling in the blanks kevin5446!! i thought Jon-O was on the spring tour, but not summer?
The reason for the patchbay, was because they were
no SBD recordings allowed because they were recording for the live release CARNIVAL 1999....and the Barstool from this show actually made it on to the album! so i guess that makes it a AUD right? i'm not sure cause i havent listened in so long.....
BTW, i nw have a perfect copy of this show if somebody wants to transfer a complete copy from DAT to CD. please let me know !

| This show can be found at the archives...and downloaded much faster...and its a SBD show. Definitely a hot one...a must have for any collection. Also check out the 4/2/99 show as well....SCI sounds great with Denson and Washington playing along. Adds another dimension to their stuff. =0) ya might want to check out the 9/11/98 show with Merl Saunders....as well as, 3-13-00. you wont be dissappointed in any of those!!!!!! |
