I myself would love to have a copy w/o any diginoise. Is that possible? I havent listened to it yet so I dont know how bad it is, but i hate abrubt jolts that throws me out of my groove.

just for the record, d1t1 has two diginoise sections, 3:24-3:27 and 3:38-3:40.
wolffmansbro, this music scene works so much better when we treat each other with respect. Your work is appreciated, but the juvenile testosterone poisoned attitude towards possible criticism is unneccessary.

Is it just my imagination, or is there a bit of repeated segment at the end of 'Band Intros' and 'New Math' where Jeff says, "Show him a whole lotta love, Mr. Bela Fleck on the banjos!"? I'm assuming this should only be on one track and not both, but please tell me if this is not so. I'm sorry if this has been discussed before, but I read through the previous postings and I didn't see this mentioned.
Also, with diginoise in at least 3 tracks, does anyone know why was this recording selected as one of the four? It's a great show, no doubt, but there must have been others that we also great and free of diginoise. I'm not complaining, because I'm happy to get whatever Flecktones shows I can, but I'm just curious. Thanks. |

| I meant to say that the repeated segment is at the end of 'Band Intros' and the beginning of 'New Math.' Sorry for any confusion. |

The fans were allowed to vote for the shows they wanted released, and this was one that was voted for. The Flecktones Tour Manager agreed that he would take the top 10 shows voted for, go back, look through them, and find the ones he thought were worth releasing.
He told me that some of the shows were really bad, some were not too bad (like this one) and some were perfect, but he went 100% by what the fans voted for.
So basically, he gave us what we wanted, a SBD choice of our choosing.

"the repeated segment is at the end of 'Band Intros' and the beginning of 'New Math.' Sorry for any confusion"
I definitely heard this within minutes of my initial listen. I would think that this was introduced during transfer or tracking, correct? Like a DAT was stopped, rewound, and then started again? Or, maybe the master .wav file created from the DAT was tracked twice to correct an error?
Either way, sound quality on this is great. Hopefully the next shows released will be given a thorough listen to and all known flaws noted before being seeded.
DMBTex10101, you mentioned that the "Flecktones Tour Manager" would be releasing these shows. Any idea if these are coming from his personal DAT's or the Flecktones master archives? Or any idea what he is using to transfer to CD?

| Dont what to sound stupid but, after I downloaded these files I can not get them to play back. I tried QT ect. no good. How does one get them to play back. I would have thought they where MP3s. But they have a weird extension, .flac I am not familiar with. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

yo beachwood! i remember trying to figure all that file format stuff out myself not too long ago. flac is a lossless format which means all the information is retained, not like mp3. mp3's are good enough for my ears though.
you need to convert your flac files to mp3's. there are lot's of free programs that do this. i'm not at my home computer so i don't have the info right in front of me, but i'm pretty sure winamp has a plug in to read flac. it also has an export plug in called (something-chinese) mp3 writer that, when enabled, will convert the file to mp3 instead of playing when you hit the play button on win-amp. hope this was a help, good luck. |

You should never convert these files to MP3. The purpose in trading these shows in .shn or .flac is that these formats are lossless. mkwact and flac frontend make short work of converting these files, respectively, to .wav which you can then burn to cd or listen to on your computer. MP3 is a lossy format and over the course of just two or three compressions can dramatically reduce the sound quality of the file at which point, to most peoples ears, the file becomes unlistenable. We are trying to preserve the sound quality of these shows for generations to come. Think of it as an historic document...you wouldnt fold up the constitution and carry it around in your pocket, would you? |
