10/15/83: Smoking Big RxR Blues in the first set + a great pre-drums (Playin' is outstanding) and one of the few revival St. Stephen's from '83. I'm not too familiar with '83 overall but this show is hot as hell! (I've listened to the SBD source but not the AUD, so can't make any qulaitative comments on quality of the AUD source. The board sounds pretty good, though).

Wow, waited a long time for this. Was at this show, with about a million friends; as Canadian deadheads (coming from Hamilton, Ontario), we saw a lot of Buffalo shows (Rochester, Syracuse etc), and would convoy on down the QEW, and take our chances at the border (US guards were so uptight with us sketchy looking northern hippies). This show during the seven-year hiatus of Canadian shows, prompted by the bands hassles coming to Toronto in '77. (hear Phil's 'Jones' intro of 771104, and Jerry's comment "freshly deported from Canada.")
Anyway, Very glad to have this - had a pretty poor Aud cassette forever, which nonetheless got played 'cause this night was so stankin... The early '80's seem particularly suited to the Sick Bits treatment, as there are lots of good auds out there to augment what I find to be the particularly airless boards of that era (miss Betty). Total props for this effort.
Favourite 83 show Seattle 830827, never heard a board, but the aud (and the show) totally sparkle. |

(Please, this is by no means a flame to ScarFire, whose work has been simply INCREDIBLE with his Sick Bits :) )
I really don't like this show...among the weaker ones I've heard from '81...
the first set is very standard (I like BIODTL), and the second set's transitions are quite sloppy...no song version really sticks out, except for Est.>GDTRFB, which is good, but not amazing...
the Matrix job is fantastic, and I salute your work ScarFire!!! However, for a real taste of '81's goodness, I prefer May or October...

For those interested in Sick Bits Vol. 11, I have seeded it over at Lossless Legs:
http://shnflac.dyndns.org/
The show is Manor Downs - Manor, TX 7-31-82 (Jerry's Birthday post drumz)
The torrent's moving along nicely so hop on it while the swarm is still large - it's one of those shows.
As for the Starlight 8-3-82 that everyone is anticipating, I will seed that here soon as SB Vol. 12.
Cheers
