| Description | Quicksilver Messenger Service - Avalon Ballroom, San Francisco, California, October 28th 1966, from reel to reel new source, sound improvement !
1. Band Intro
2. Mona
3. If You Live Your Time Will Come
4. Smokestack Lightning
5. Dandelion
6. Codeine
7. Runaway *
8. Pride Of Man +
* rare rendition of "runaway"
+ not included in the majority of the tapes in circulation
The sound inprovement of this source is that, finally, there is only a little hiss on this tape, and no drops,
compare with all the others tapes in circulation.....Still you have the same little distortion in some
points like all the others sources in circulation. Also this tape contains "Pride Of Man" not
included in many others tapes of this show.
First generation reel to reel (revox) > amplifiers > tascam audio cdrw750 > cd > computer > plex tool professional XL > wav > flac.
No EQ was used this time, tape not needed any......just a raw recording like it originally was done.
Transfered, remastered & uploaded by 38f on Dime 2006.

thanks go out to the taper(where ever he may rest) and also out to 38f for the remastering/upgrade of some vintage QMS...

Important news from bt.etree.org!
Begining on March 17 2006, all torrents seeded at bt.etree must
include 1) checksum files (.md5, .ffp) that include a checksum for
every lossless audio file in the fileset, and 2) a copy of those
checksums pasted into the torrent description, so everyone can see
them without downloading the fileset.
If you seed a torrent without this information, it will be deleted.
We're telling you this now, so you'll know.
Of course, if there is a problem, we'll try to contact you and help
to fix it. If you don't have a valid e-mail address on your
db.etree.org account, please take a moment to add one. If we can't
contact you, we can't help you, and it be very frustrating for
everyone. Seeders who don't have valid e-mail addresses may find
their logins disabled.
This message will appear on all torrents seeded to bt.etree until
everyone has gotten the message. If your torrent has checksum files
and lists them in the description, thank you! If not, please take a
moment to edit the torrent description to include them. If you have
to add the checksum files from scratch, you'll have to pull this
torrent and start over. Sorry about that.
For help generating checksums, please visit
http://wiki.etree.org or
http://forums.etree.org/viewtopic.php?t=7025. If you have specific
questions, please post them at http://forums.etree.org and someone
will help you ASAP. Please do NOT e-mail us directly.
Thanks, and happy downloading. |

Very cool - sound is not stellar but this is from '66! Would love to check out any other QMS from this time frame. In a recent issue of the UK music magazine THE WIRE there is a nice write-up on QMS, who have somewhat not gotten enough recognition as other the Haight bands of the day. Thanks again. |

| thanks for this nugget from a band who have never gotten their props from today's listeners.............I would however rate the sound of this recording as a D+.there is lots of hiss and the levels are extremely hot.....hot enough to cause the D/A converters in most people's gear to cause extra distortion not actually present on the recording. This does not diminish the historical significance of this recording and the fun of listening to a show recorded several years before I was even born.....thanks again |
