Important news from bt.etree.org!

Begining on March 17 2006, all torrents seeded at bt.etree must
include 1) checksum files (.md5, .ffp) that include a checksum for
every lossless audio file in the fileset, and 2) a copy of those
checksums pasted into the torrent description, so everyone can see
them without downloading the fileset.

If you seed a torrent without this information, it will be deleted.
We're telling you this now, so you'll know.

Of course, if there is a problem, we'll try to contact you and help
to fix it. If you don't have a valid e-mail address on your
db.etree.org account, please take a moment to add one. If we can't
contact you, we can't help you, and it be very frustrating for
everyone. Seeders who don't have valid e-mail addresses may find
their logins disabled.

This message will appear on all torrents seeded to bt.etree until
everyone has gotten the message. If your torrent has checksum files
and lists them in the description, thank you! If not, please take a
moment to edit the torrent description to include them. If you have
to add the checksum files from scratch, you'll have to pull this
torrent and start over. Sorry about that.

For help generating checksums, please visit
http://wiki.etree.org or
http://forums.etree.org/viewtopic.php?t=7025. If you have specific
questions, please post them at http://forums.etree.org and someone
will help you ASAP. Please do NOT e-mail us directly.

Thanks, and happy downloading.

saweeet. thanks.
newplanet7 2006-08-03 22:06:35
I thought the date was 7/22. That's what the other source is dated as. Thanks for this source.-todd
mrblaze1 2006-08-03 22:59:21
it is 7-22, although they didnt start until almost midnight, so you could even say 7-23
ebbboy 2006-08-04 04:44:03
I don't think I've heard anything recorded with these mics before; how does this sound?
deanlambrecht 2006-08-04 08:39:44
It's definitely 7/22, not 7/21. Not sure how that got switched up, but post production + torrenting required handoff amongst 3 tapers...

Everyone please make the change to their discs.

Empty, any way to change the file name?

Thanks for an alternate source on this one...the other source is kickin' so you've got some stiff competition! Ha! Thanks again though for your efforts...much appreciated....
RBayers 2006-08-04 09:54:04
just so everyone knows..
not only is the quality of thise source inferior to the other, it's tracked incorrectly (compared to the tracklist provided) and it's dated wrong..
but thanks for the effort..

Resisting urge to comment on this OPINION on the source.

And please accept my apologies for the tracking...

"not only is the quality of thise source inferior to the other, it"

any1 else want to comment on the SOUND of this source?
RBayers 2006-08-05 08:46:39
I didn't mean to come across rudely, but I guess I did..
but serious.. the quality on this source is just no where near the quality of the other source that was posted last week.. it's no contest.
emptyzero 2006-08-05 13:33:50
RBayers what kind of gear do you run? I'd like to check out some of your recordings...I'm being polite & serious here.
dpaulku 2006-08-12 18:47:13
RBayers.

Since I haven't heard the other source of which you speak, but since I did do the heavy lifting to help Dean clean up his source, I may add a few comments.

Have you tried listening to the MBHO source with a good pair of cans? Healy omnis are likely to not produce expected stereo images when reproduced on a typical playback system. You may have an entirely different impression of this recording if you do so.

Second, shotguns will without question produce a much different sounding sound stage regardless of mic brand when A-B'd against an omni source. Mic characteristics aside, many people my prefer a pronounced stereo image over the more dispersed/natural? sound of omnis in this pattern. Does that make the omni pattern inferior or just different?

Third, the work I did to remove every bleeping click (I hope I didn't miss more than a few) left the entire set ridding at -6db. Overall, it’s on the low volume side but that's not a fault, IMO, if you find that the other source has used that available headroom.

Lastly, I don’t think you said, did you audit the 24bit or 16bit version of the other source? And what was your playback system? Worlds of difference (they say) between 16 & 24bit on a quality playback.

I could be wrong, but that's my reaction, like I say, with out hearing the other source or having more to go on from you. We try to do our best with the tools we can afford… and takes our chances when we offer it up.

Ooops!
deanlambrecht 2006-08-13 12:05:22
No, post it again, Dave! :) Thanks for the props, man! Much appreciated. I think RBayers has fled this torrent to go fluff my Ween recording...
