Important news from bt.etree.org!

Begining on March 17 2006, all torrents seeded at bt.etree must
include 1) checksum files (.md5, .ffp) that include a checksum for
every lossless audio file in the fileset, and 2) a copy of those
checksums pasted into the torrent description, so everyone can see
them without downloading the fileset.

If you seed a torrent without this information, it will be deleted.
We're telling you this now, so you'll know.

Of course, if there is a problem, we'll try to contact you and help
to fix it. If you don't have a valid e-mail address on your
db.etree.org account, please take a moment to add one. If we can't
contact you, we can't help you, and it be very frustrating for
everyone. Seeders who don't have valid e-mail addresses may find
their logins disabled.

This message will appear on all torrents seeded to bt.etree until
everyone has gotten the message. If your torrent has checksum files
and lists them in the description, thank you! If not, please take a
moment to edit the torrent description to include them. If you have
to add the checksum files from scratch, you'll have to pull this
torrent and start over. Sorry about that.

For help generating checksums, please visit
http://wiki.etree.org or
http://forums.etree.org/viewtopic.php?t=7025. If you have specific
questions, please post them at http://forums.etree.org and someone
will help you ASAP. Please do NOT e-mail us directly.

Thanks, and happy downloading.

previously, there was a "Schoeps > DAT > CDR" source that circulated. maybe that was Derek's source, maybe not. either way, this source sounds great, and now has complete and fully known lineage. so hop on and check it out
Noraa 2006-12-11 07:37:20
very good show for a tour opener and having only played live 4 times in about 7 months. I don't find anything mind blowing here, nice somewhat mellow show that always finds its way back into the player. Not a must have, but will be a welcomed addition to the collection.
thanks for the upload.
Rheinfiree 2006-12-11 08:02:16

apperantly it was taped stealth from outside by someone
who stuck a mic into some hole

there was a MP3 from it on oink but got deletetd

Ahhh, finaly Dereks 6-30 tape surfaces in a pure digital format. Now we just need to track down his 7-10 and we have the whole tour. He really did nail this run!
jasonsobel 2006-12-11 09:53:29
I have Derek's 7/10/98 transferred, tracked, added to the etree database, and sitting on my harddrive waiting to be seeded. It'll be posted very shortly, probably tomorrow morning.
nedstruzz 2006-12-11 10:50:46
So nice, There was speculation that Derek did not tape 7-10 so he could make a quick train ride to Den hagg to catch MSMW the next night.

Barcalona to Den Hagg Netherlandsin 20 hours, quite a trip to catch one show!
literacyofdance 2006-12-11 11:31:26
the song timings for this one read like an early 90's show
literacyofdance 2006-12-11 12:49:32
rheinfiree,

that reminds me of the guy who used to stick his mic in thru a hole in the wall to record bird's solos. JUST BIRD'S SOLOS, nothing else. i imagine that kind of fanaticism wouldnt go over too well with this crowd.
eee 2006-12-11 13:32:32
I'd call this a must have. This is a great recording of a really fun show. PH is obviously having fun, joking around while playing really well. I've had set I for years, it'll be nice to get set II. Thanks for the upload.

"anyone know about the soundcheck?

I was there when the taper did this. The venue was an old barn in Christiania, and we were listening to the soundcheck outside the small venue. The bog wooden doors had a few small holes in them from old latches, or whatever was there, and this guy popped his mics in and recorded the soundcheck. I never got a copy, but it sounds too similar to be anything other than what you're talking about!
McGruppster 2006-12-11 19:18:46
how weird is it that Stash is the longest song in a show that includes Antelope, Mike's, Weekapaug, Guyute, Ghost, AND Bowie? Meanwhile, The Moma Dance is almost longer than David Bowie, and IS longer than Ghost. this show is weird, maaaan. lol
Multibeast05 2006-12-11 22:08:36
36 hours by plane and train (Montreal to Paris to Copenhagen), we hit our hotel in downtown Copenhagen, napped for a few hours, wandered over into Freetown Christiana looking for the venue(this is the evening before the 1st show), we saw an ad or two so we knew we were on the right track, as we ventured further we heard a strange yet familiar sound phlowing down the streets. As we got closer there was no mistaking Phish! We chilled outside the Grey Hall for the sound check...Birds, Moma, +?...then hit the outside bazaar full of shrooms, nugs, hash and cafes. Many, many happy Americans ;) Met Trey the next day....walked right by Page...its that Page? Hey Page!

So Glad that we arrived!!!!! What a trip!

For me the 7-2-98 show was the best of the 3....if you like the journey-to-the-center-of-the-universe-thing....i speak of the 2nd set...Ghost->R Jim etc...I swear there was a huge glowing Orb in the middle of the stage..right where Trey should have been!!
Multibeast05 2006-12-11 22:16:54
Sound Check = The Moma Dance, Frankie Says,
Ha Ha Ha, Birds of a Feather, Water in the Sky (new arpeggiated version). This was from the night b4 the 1st show.
nab 2006-12-12 01:45:39
The Phish Companion lists this bowie as noteable, its a show I don't have, and to top it off, three pretty full discs ta boot. That's good enough for me. Thanks jason
McGruppster 2006-12-12 02:26:19
Multibeast is right friggin on about 7/2/98. That show is just absolutely raging in the 2nd set, total hose. Sickness times a lot.
Player2BNamedLater 2006-12-12 03:50:01
"Barcalona to Den Hagg Netherlandsin 20 hours, quite a trip to catch one show!"

Actually he and Mike also rolled the Headhunters set, which makes the effort all the more heroic in my book.
ClancyWiggum 2006-12-13 14:05:45
The sound quality of this one is SO great! Woo Hoo! :)
