| i was always curious about that tittle...wyatt says it is tittled after a small Florida town. I know of a wachula and wachahula, but not wacahoota. That is like pete rowan calling the withlacoochie (with-la-coochie) the walahoochie...these FL indian names get messed up real bad and always have....especially the Calusa stuff. |

I have a TRU show (early and late sets) from May 1992 where Tony talks a little about the title of that song (Wacahoota Station), saying Wacahoota is the name of a place in Southern Florida where he has a home...I checked it out on Google - here's some info:
Wacahoota is in Alachua County, in the Gainesville metro area.
The community name derives from Muskogean for "cow home".
The latitude of Wacahoota is 29.556N. The longitude is -82.391W. It is in the Eastern Standard time zone. Elevation is 75 feet.

gee and I live in Gville for 8 yrs, duh.
i knew the Rice familt lived in Crystal River, but heard that they got hit hard w/ the 2004 hurricanes and lost alot, including alot of tony's belongings and some photos and recordings....anyone else hear this? |
