| Description | Grateful Dead
Tuesday, April 18, 1978
Civic Arena - Pittsburgh, PA
Recorded by Alan Zimmerman
Master Audience Cassette; 2 Sennheiser 421s (Alan thinks)> Teac PC-10 (Maxell UD XLII-90s)
Transfer and FLAC encoding by David Minches:
Master played back on Nakamichi Dragon > ART DI/O > Digital Audio Labs Card Deluxe soundcard > Cool Edit 2000 > flac encoding > FLAC
Patches supplied by A:C:D:CD recorded with Shure SM57s> Sony TC-158
Quick note about a comparison between the two sources. While the Shure source sounds brighter at first listen, the transfer of this source to the digital domain was done incorrectly as the master was recorded with Dolby but played back without Dolby when the transfer was done. To me, Alan's master has a much warmer sound and lower noise floor.

Important news from bt.etree.org!
Begining on March 17 2006, all torrents seeded at bt.etree must
include 1) checksum files (.md5, .ffp) that include a checksum for
every lossless audio file in the fileset, and 2) a copy of those
checksums pasted into the torrent description, so everyone can see
them without downloading the fileset.
If you seed a torrent without this information, it will be deleted.
We're telling you this now, so you'll know.
Of course, if there is a problem, we'll try to contact you and help
to fix it. If you don't have a valid e-mail address on your
db.etree.org account, please take a moment to add one. If we can't
contact you, we can't help you, and it be very frustrating for
everyone. Seeders who don't have valid e-mail addresses may find
their logins disabled.
This message will appear on all torrents seeded to bt.etree until
everyone has gotten the message. If your torrent has checksum files
and lists them in the description, thank you! If not, please take a
moment to edit the torrent description to include them. If you have
to add the checksum files from scratch, you'll have to pull this
torrent and start over. Sorry about that.
For help generating checksums, please visit
http://wiki.etree.org or
http://forums.etree.org/viewtopic.php?t=7025. If you have specific
questions, please post them at http://forums.etree.org and someone
will help you ASAP. Please do NOT e-mail us directly.
Thanks, and happy downloading. |

This is a show I have never seen in circulation. The stand alone Scarlet and short (looking) second set makes me wonder if it was an off night, but the download will hold the answer! Thanks, Alan!

| Love those '78 auds - thanks. Anyone have an audience recording of the Huntington WV show from 4/16/78? I used to have it on cassette and foolishly lost track of it when the Betty Board became available - it included some priceless between song banter before I Love Each Other that is MIA on the sbd. |

This was my first show and the 2nd set was not as short as it looks. Not a 'great' show, but very good nebertheless.
A smoking Dancin' into drums, plus a looong Sugaree are the highlites |

"Dancin followed Scarlet on 6.3.76 Paramount Theater Portland, OR."
yes, but in this show they jammed into each other. iirc there was a short fire tease in the jam, then they went directly into dancin. i think dancin followed scarlet in the 76 show, but it wasn't a segue.
lookin forward to hearing this sugaree again.

| Beauty! - I love recordings like this - the room ambience sounds so sweet. From what I've listened to so far - nothing "off" about this night. Really captures the feel of the crowd against the band nicely...good vibe. |

2006-12-31 18:35:21 |
| The thing about the crowd, maybe was 5000 in a 15000 seat arena. THAT wouldn't last long! |

Just converted and listened - a very nice recording! Alternate source not bad either.
For those burning audio CDs, you'll need three discs, with Lazy>Supp starting disc #2. |
