Important news from bt.etree.org!
Begining on March 17 2006, all torrents seeded at bt.etree must
include 1) checksum files (.md5, .ffp) that include a checksum for
every lossless audio file in the fileset, and 2) a copy of those
checksums pasted into the torrent description, so everyone can see
them without downloading the fileset.
If you seed a torrent without this information, it will be deleted.
We're telling you this now, so you'll know.
Of course, if there is a problem, we'll try to contact you and help
to fix it. If you don't have a valid e-mail address on your
db.etree.org account, please take a moment to add one. If we can't
contact you, we can't help you, and it be very frustrating for
everyone. Seeders who don't have valid e-mail addresses may find
their logins disabled.
This message will appear on all torrents seeded to bt.etree until
everyone has gotten the message. If your torrent has checksum files
and lists them in the description, thank you! If not, please take a
moment to edit the torrent description to include them. If you have
to add the checksum files from scratch, you'll have to pull this
torrent and start over. Sorry about that.
For help generating checksums, please visit
http://wiki.etree.org or
http://forums.etree.org/viewtopic.php?t=7025. If you have specific
questions, please post them at http://forums.etree.org and someone
will help you ASAP. Please do NOT e-mail us directly.
Thanks, and happy downloading. |

| These are great. Without ole Bill we wouldn't have any of this other music on this site. All the good rock and roll stems directly from him! |

The timing on these couldn't be better ! I was AMAZED to see a Dr Ralph Stanley torrent here a couple of days ago and i made the comment how now all i have to do is get some Big Mon and my dad would finally see the light as to why i've collected GD tapes for 25 years ! It's my pops' b-day today and i'll be springing the Ralph Stanley on him tonight ! I Just finished the other Bill Monroe that's here so i'll be seeding that for a few days and then hopefully, if it's still active, come back and get this one for him.
THANK YOU very much....... you'll make a 70 year old lifelong B'grasser very happy ! |

"For anyone interested in knowing a little more about this venue:

Interesting article. It describes a guy who taped every show he saw there, and Monroe was the only performed who wouldn't let him tape the show.
The Hank Williams Sr show from Sunset Park circulates. |

The Direct COnnect url given in the text is wrong:
bluegrasshub.no-ip.com
isn't a bluegrass site at all. |

| whatever happened to that bluegrass ftp site, the bluegrass box i think? |

| I believe the Smithsonian duets cd is a one disc piece (as far as I know). There is a second disc with live Bill Monroe material from 1956-69. The disc of duets is a real treasure. If there is in fact a second disc of duets, I wouold sure like to know - these are priceless recordings!! |

Caf, the url does not represent a website. It is a hub on the Direct Connect network. To access the hub, you cannot use a browser, you need a direct connect client such as DC++ or StrongDC++ (google 'em). The hubs on the network are community centers where users can chat about things and share files... the bluegrasshub is one dedicated to the love of bluegrass and the archiving, preserving, and sharing lossless bluegrass concerts. You and all are welcome to join. email me if you're interested and have any trouble setting up.

cvillehick: the bluegrassbox is now kaput. The site owners just didn't have the energy or money to keep things going. It was also becoming embroiled in some of the ongoing dialogue of songwriters' royalties and the lack thereof in independent taping circles.
freebornman: I have just one recording of Bill and Doc from May 1963... and I am currently hesitant to share it up. The recorder was shut off between songs, so it is difficult to tell if the date I have (5-17) is the actual date for all tracks (could be a collection). Additionally, I'll need to make sure nothing I would be sharing was included on the Smithsonian/FW release.
