Important news from bt.etree.org!

Begining on March 17 2006, all torrents seeded at bt.etree must
include 1) checksum files (.md5, .ffp) that include a checksum for
every lossless audio file in the fileset, and 2) a copy of those
checksums pasted into the torrent description, so everyone can see
them without downloading the fileset.

If you seed a torrent without this information, it will be deleted.
We're telling you this now, so you'll know.

Of course, if there is a problem, we'll try to contact you and help
to fix it. If you don't have a valid e-mail address on your
db.etree.org account, please take a moment to add one. If we can't
contact you, we can't help you, and it be very frustrating for
everyone. Seeders who don't have valid e-mail addresses may find
their logins disabled.

This message will appear on all torrents seeded to bt.etree until
everyone has gotten the message. If your torrent has checksum files
and lists them in the description, thank you! If not, please take a
moment to edit the torrent description to include them. If you have
to add the checksum files from scratch, you'll have to pull this
torrent and start over. Sorry about that.

For help generating checksums, please visit
http://wiki.etree.org or
http://forums.etree.org/viewtopic.php?t=7025. If you have specific
questions, please post them at http://forums.etree.org and someone
will help you ASAP. Please do NOT e-mail us directly.

Thanks, and happy downloading.

The sound on this amazing I think. Anyone that hasn't heard this Ghost get it - it's the best one you will ever hear! I guess I could say the same for a few others in 97

Call it a Russian folk jam, it was more like a Gordo Russian bass blowout!!! I honestly can't remember the Ghost, I was there and had never heard the song before, and the mushies were wrecking me bad. During the Split jam, it turned really dark and evil sounding, and my sis, also on the mush, said she felt really bad and had to sit down. I couldn't dance or move or anything, it was just awful, and so wierd that the music was so wierd and dark sounding! Then, Trey and Page changed a few notes, turned it over and brought us out of the gloom into happy Split open resolution, and my sis jumped up and said she felt great! Her friend bailed her out of it with Cheerios and H20, but we ALL know it was really the music! One of the most organic experiences I ever had at a Phish show before. GET THIS SHOW!!!

ever since i heard this show, i've just wished so badly i could've been there...to actually be in attendance when they played this YEM must have been one of the most giddy, exhilarating experiences possible in life. it's just got to be the best one ever. phish going beyond phish.

GO GATORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
97phunkaddict 2007-01-09 00:00:16
Yes this was a great show for sure... I remember vividly stairing at the screen watching them with my jaw dropped in disbelief at how thick and tight the jam in ghost was and how much fun they were having on stage... like I had never seen before. The first three night were a EPIC. Sometimes I wonder if I would think these summer 97 jams/shows were this great had I not been there. For me it was one of the last and only times phish seemed truely pure musically.

GG-

You are a g-d!! Thanks so much for yet again doing me a favor. I had this on an old tape years ago and just wore it out, so I owe you one.

Can't wait to get another listen!!!!
thechadbaker 2007-01-09 01:20:11
I was at the 1st 5 show of the summer tour and the 1st three just kept getting more and more insane and of those 1st three show this is definitely the best of them all and except for the Taste the night before in Raliegh this show would have blown them all out of the water. (Lost that Raliegh show and looking for it again btw, if anyone is kind enough to seed it :)

My First phish show! What a smoker. Best YEM and Split I have ever heard. The weather that night was so freakin weird. Ominous storm clouds the entire time. Damn what a great time. I learned something that night.... don't smoke and eat shrooms and then try to eat an entire power bar in one bite. I must have chewed that thing for the entire second set.

Thanks for the up. I already have it....but I'm D/L ing again "just in case"

97 summer was my first entire tour. however on this warm night in hotlanta my highlight came well before the show when Gordo pulled up next to me on his golfcart. i just dusted off my old tour journal to recall some faded memories that i'd now like to share with you: as he graciously gave some autographs out, i realized the only thing i had on me was my nug jar. so i took off the cap and he signed it. when he said it was time for him to go i stood on my skateboard and said, so go. i got the cactus smirk as he floored it and we both peeled out of there. i hung on to the cart while being pulled by mike for a 15 min cruise around the lot. i was psyched to see how psyched all the kids were when they realized gordo was passing thru (w/some kid on a skate board attached to his golfcart). my last request was that he sign "Cactus" on my alien workshop skateboard that i just got the ride on. he did. i told him to tear it up as we parted ways. he did. mike rules. btw, that skateboard was eventually stolen. if anyone knows where it at give me a shout. i had a great show that night and the tour only got better from there.

phish weird and dark?!?

no way
jkriesel 2007-01-10 07:39:26
The sound quality is really, really good on this one, despite the above mentioned anomalies. It is difficult to believe this is even an AUD, since it has a really nice matrix feel: plenty of crowd, plenty of the band, plenty of vocals.

ok, spinning this SOAM as i type.

curious to see how it stands up next to the previous "one of the best" from 98 Kohl Center.

trey leading with the wah right out the gate, making things much more dissonant depending on his chord choice.

dropping down into straight funk ala tweezer but still not losing sight of repetitive stutter. (wish they would stay there longer)

ok ok ok i get it: the evil weird shit starts up halfway through, trey using the leslie to make some sort of sick hybrid tone with the wah...

slowwing way down with come huge minor changes from mike and page...this is prolly why people were sitting down and frowning! pretty soon rising back to the traditional chords of the SOAM finish as previously posted. but almost a david bowie like charge to the end, really fantastic and surely sent the spunions running for the hills.

i'll stick with the 98 kohl version for now, had me b-boying in the family room while taking down the tree.

the sound is wonderful on this one, kudos!
