Phil's amp fails, forcing an unscheduled acoustic set to close the show with. Jerry plays electric guitar for some of the acoustic set. This is also the day that the Dead were busted by the New Orleans police before the show, prompting some appropriate stage banter. The recording was normalized with Sound Forge, which was also used to edit a few small blemishes.

|Important news from bt.etree.org!
Begining on March 17 2006, all torrents seeded at bt.etree must
include 1) checksum files (.md5, .ffp) that include a checksum for
every lossless audio file in the fileset, and 2) a copy of those
checksums pasted into the torrent description, so everyone can see
them without downloading the fileset.
If you seed a torrent without this information, it will be deleted.
We're telling you this now, so you'll know.
Of course, if there is a problem, we'll try to contact you and help
to fix it. If you don't have a valid e-mail address on your
db.etree.org account, please take a moment to add one. If we can't
contact you, we can't help you, and it be very frustrating for
everyone. Seeders who don't have valid e-mail addresses may find
their logins disabled.
This message will appear on all torrents seeded to bt.etree until
everyone has gotten the message. If your torrent has checksum files
and lists them in the description, thank you! If not, please take a
moment to edit the torrent description to include them. If you have
to add the checksum files from scratch, you'll have to pull this
torrent and start over. Sorry about that.
For help generating checksums, please visit
http://forums.etree.org/viewtopic.php?t=7025. If you have specific
questions, please post them at http://forums.etree.org and someone
will help you ASAP. Please do NOT e-mail us directly.
Thanks, and happy downloading.
|The acoustic set has some hiss but is still a a very enjoyable listen
Phils blown amp is the reason for the impromptu acoustic set. You can hear them working on it in the background during the first few songs of the acoustic set.
Long Black Limousine, Saw Mill and Katie Mae are my favorites from the set.
first "Saw Mill" - only "Bound In Memories" - first "Katie Mae"
|most awesome, many thanks for throwing this one up on here
|what were they busted with?
|for smilin on a cloudy day...
|have you read the actual story behind the "smiling on a cloudy day" bust? it's pretty funny ... google "bob weir" and "water balloon"
|Hey all, just hoping that someone can send me an invite code to demonoid. My e-mail is firstname.lastname@example.org
|Thanks for this cool slice of Dead history! I guess necessity IS the mother of invention. This is the 3rd ever acoustic set by the Dead. The previous 2 on 12/19/69 and 12/26/69 were due to late arriving band members and this one was due to Phils broken bass. These 3 acoustic sets are so cool and laid back I guess the band figured why not do acoustic sets? I can't believe they could sing these songs so letter perfect on the fly the way they did! Check out Jerry's singing on Long Black Limousine! This is SO FINE! Thanks a million! And the electric set is hot too! Great Masons and Hard To Handle on this show! A worthy download.
