*Chris Wood's electric bass ceased to function after the 2nd tune. We
were treated to the upright for the rest of the gig.
**Billy Martin calls out 'a little mellower on the lights' to help he
and the guys keep eye contact.
Recording quality for the show is top notch. The DAT -> CD transfer
was done in 1997. The show intro was lopped off the front and track
breaks were inserted at what seemed like good spots at the time. The
DATs have since disintegrated.
This show was a standout from the fall tour. ENJOY!

Important news from bt.etree.org!
Begining on March 17 2006, all torrents seeded at bt.etree must
include 1) checksum files (.md5, .ffp) that include a checksum for
every lossless audio file in the fileset, and 2) a copy of those

This is an effort to seed all existing MMW shows, and yes, preserving the original SHN/FLAC filesets. The seeding will proceed chronologically starting with the earliest known circulating fileset.
Thanks to MMW for allowing their music to be recorded....really, thank you.
Huge thanks goes out to the tapers, without whom this wouldn't be possible...and those that have helped get the tunes to our ears.

Yet another sweet '96 soundboard!! I removed the small clicks that were near the beginning of each track, so now it sounds very nice. Enjoy... -Tom

Thanks! I've been looking for this for a while. My second MMW show. SBD no less. My buddy actually tapes this show...to cassette tape. One of only two tapers at the show. The other guy ran DAT.
Just a big, open, square room and not a lot of people there. Drove down from Rochester for it. It was a must after we saw them in Madison earlier that summer. Stand-up bass the whole show was great! |

Thank you for posting this!!! I was the promoter of this show... one of my favorite nights ever in college. The Mandela Room held 600 people, and I was freaked b/c we only sold 300 tickets before the show, but we sold out the day of the show. Great memories of this night, and my favorite MMW show.
A few things that I remember:
-John Medeski was using a fender amp that he had bought the day before.
-My friend Marcus showed MMW "The Spirit of Christmas" for the first time on their tour bus. They called us a month later to ask for a copy.
-It snowed. Granted, it was Binghamton, so it would have been more surprising if I said that the sun was out. |
