Important news from bt.etree.org!

Begining on March 17 2006, all torrents seeded at bt.etree must
include 1) checksum files (.md5, .ffp) that include a checksum for
every lossless audio file in the fileset, and 2) a copy of those
checksums pasted into the torrent description, so everyone can see
them without downloading the fileset.

If you seed a torrent without this information, it will be deleted.
We're telling you this now, so you'll know.

Of course, if there is a problem, we'll try to contact you and help
to fix it. If you don't have a valid e-mail address on your
db.etree.org account, please take a moment to add one. If we can't
contact you, we can't help you, and it be very frustrating for
everyone. Seeders who don't have valid e-mail addresses may find
their logins disabled.

This message will appear on all torrents seeded to bt.etree until
everyone has gotten the message. If your torrent has checksum files
and lists them in the description, thank you! If not, please take a
moment to edit the torrent description to include them. If you have
to add the checksum files from scratch, you'll have to pull this
torrent and start over. Sorry about that.

For help generating checksums, please visit
http://wiki.etree.org or
http://forums.etree.org/viewtopic.php?t=7025. If you have specific
questions, please post them at http://forums.etree.org and someone
will help you ASAP. Please do NOT e-mail us directly.

Thanks, and happy downloading.

hey steven normalization is bad avoid it at all costs.... keep the
source clean an the gene poole cleaner :-)
heavypetter 2007-03-29 04:54:54
I have to somewhat disagree here. If you need to utilize bass rolloff, which I had to use here, the overall signal, which was dominated by the low end, then drops to a point where the final recording levels would be way too low. Normalizing just brings all levels up by an algorithmic equation, and greatly improves the sound and levels. Many people, especially those who don't run their levels hot, normalize every tape, even if they aren't telling you. If they are peaking an -6db or less, they have to, or your highest volume settings would seem inadequate.

i was gonna ask how this source sounds compared to the other one but its not like I'm not going to download it and check it either way. haha thanks steve. this was a really fun set. I had a good time in FL and am reliving it still everyday with the phenomenal recordings you all have put together. Thanks.

i beg to differ steven as there are bass rolloff and other tools you could use to drop the db on said bass frequency's but good to see you have joined the seeding nation. Welcome to 2007 sir ;)

your favorite stealthy taper ...

I personally don't use Normalization but I do use limiters, compression, gates and so forth if needed. In my experience 99.99% of the time the bottom end is much more overbearing that the mids and top end and they have a very flat dull sound to them. Once Im able to hear the show on my DAW and throttle back some of the bottom end or use some limiters it starts to sound even. This is then when I apply a little compression.

You gotta be eq'ing your playback or something because if your not using a little rolloff and leveler in post you better be running multiple subs. Which is not what I consider "reference" many AUD tapes I hear are muddy. There usually the same folks who are bitchin about the clean linage and so on. Ya thats great ya got some clean linage dude but your tape sounds like ya have dirty socks over your mic's

Oh I forgot to add. Thanks for the tape Steven. Cant wait to hear it.

If your a galactic fan ya can find my tape from a couple weeks ago here. http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=505848
