Important news from bt.etree.org!
Begining on March 17 2006, all torrents seeded at bt.etree must
include 1) checksum files (.md5, .ffp) that include a checksum for
every lossless audio file in the fileset, and 2) a copy of those
checksums pasted into the torrent description, so everyone can see
them without downloading the fileset.
If you seed a torrent without this information, it will be deleted.
We're telling you this now, so you'll know.
Of course, if there is a problem, we'll try to contact you and help
to fix it. If you don't have a valid e-mail address on your
db.etree.org account, please take a moment to add one. If we can't
contact you, we can't help you, and it be very frustrating for
everyone. Seeders who don't have valid e-mail addresses may find
their logins disabled.
This message will appear on all torrents seeded to bt.etree until
everyone has gotten the message. If your torrent has checksum files
and lists them in the description, thank you! If not, please take a
moment to edit the torrent description to include them. If you have
to add the checksum files from scratch, you'll have to pull this
torrent and start over. Sorry about that.
For help generating checksums, please visit
http://wiki.etree.org or
http://forums.etree.org/viewtopic.php?t=7025. If you have specific
questions, please post them at http://forums.etree.org and someone
will help you ASAP. Please do NOT e-mail us directly.
Thanks, and happy downloading. |

This was listed as one of the shows needed for the Shack Project. I think I uploaded shn's to the old chubbsub server a couple of years ago, here we have flacs.
Does anyone have Mark Linton's source of this show? He's the guy requesting "Lonely Ave." in between some songs. |

This is that same source. It is not a new transfer, but a rip of the cd's made from the original transfer. I'm not sure if the original DATs are still accessible.
http://db.etree.org/shn/25835 - I probably have those original shn's, it would take some looking, & I would gladly upload them if needed. |

Hi Taperjoe,
Unfortunately, the original DATs of this show are gone. They didn't survive a move of a few years ago. I wish I would have kept them now, or shipped them all off to someone that could transfer them...
I also can't seem to find a CD rip of the DATs that I would have done a few years ago, so I'm afraid I don't have any of my original stuff. Bummer.

Mark - long time!! Did you move far or still Chicago area? I remember coming to your apartment & drooling over hundreds of GD DATs about 10 years ago (maybe more?). Good to know you're here!
I figured I'd ask for your source since you had the more serious rig. This version sounds fine, but it was still worth a try. A while back someone seeded your recordings of the Elbo Room shows, I wonder if that person has copies of your version of this show?

Taperjoe, I see my wondering about this being a fresh transfer was already anwered in your Source info in the textfile - sorry for not reading it more carefully. But thanks for ripping the source CDs you had...next best thing to the DAT I think....
Mark, were you DATs for this AKG source? I notice somebody in db.etree is listing audio discs from a Schoeps source...which would be nice to hear as well...
Regardless, I'm simply happy to be able to hear the show...gonna give it a listen this afternoon...thanks guys....

This AKG source is the recording that I made. I borrowed the rig at the time so I didn't keep the DAT's. This transfer was made (by me) a couple of years ago, & I could ask Fierce if he still has the master to do a fresh transfer.
I also wonder about the Schoeps source. I think Mark was using KM140's? |

Taperjoe,
I actually prefer Andrew Loewenstein's KM140 copy of the Elbo Room shows. That show was my first ever that I taped myself, and I was a few feet deeper than Andrew, and I was running the Octava MC012's at that time. They're a little boomy. I tried those through the summer, but finally gave up and bought the Schoeps CMC64's > Beyer > DA-P1 rig that I ran up until the end of '97 when I sold the taping gear and bought a townhouse.
I'm still in Naperville, but moved when I got married (oops!) and now I'm single again... |

If you find a copy of my Intersection/Grand Rapids show - let me know. I was BLOWN away by that opening improv portion of the show.
Joe, I'm trying to put a face with the name but I'm struggling! |

Mark, my last name is Perona. It's been a long time (10 years or so), but I was right next to you at this Grand Rapids show, we were watching each other's gear. I came to your place once & remember seeing hundreds of GD DATs, I think we made a couple trades.
I'm in Elmhurst, maybe I'll see you at a show sometime? |
