Important news from bt.etree.org!
Begining on March 17 2006, all torrents seeded at bt.etree must
include 1) checksum files (.md5, .ffp) that include a checksum for
every lossless audio file in the fileset, and 2) a copy of those
checksums pasted into the torrent description, so everyone can see
them without downloading the fileset.
If you seed a torrent without this information, it will be deleted.
We're telling you this now, so you'll know.
Of course, if there is a problem, we'll try to contact you and help
to fix it. If you don't have a valid e-mail address on your
db.etree.org account, please take a moment to add one. If we can't
contact you, we can't help you, and it be very frustrating for
everyone. Seeders who don't have valid e-mail addresses may find
their logins disabled.
This message will appear on all torrents seeded to bt.etree until
everyone has gotten the message. If your torrent has checksum files
and lists them in the description, thank you! If not, please take a
moment to edit the torrent description to include them. If you have
to add the checksum files from scratch, you'll have to pull this
torrent and start over. Sorry about that.
For help generating checksums, please visit
http://wiki.etree.org or
http://forums.etree.org/viewtopic.php?t=7025. If you have specific
questions, please post them at http://forums.etree.org and someone
will help you ASAP. Please do NOT e-mail us directly.
Thanks, and happy downloading. |

Yeah thanks for this one guys...always enjoy your recordings.
Regarding the setlist, set 2 track 3 is most likely a tune as well, not an Improv...I guess they played it the next night as well...it sounds familiar, like some weird cover....it put a couple of us in mind of a couple of different Beatles tunes... |

| my 1st MMW show, i'm glad to have it, however i gotta say i almost fell asleep in the 2nd set. They really lost me for a while in the first set too, about 30 minutes in. I could hear snoring a few rows behind me, so i knew it wasn't just me. I think i just got a poor introduction to a good band, i'll definitely give them one more chance, hopefully with an organ next time. |
| duggy |
2007-05-04 11:14:00 |
onemanband, you actually got a killer introduction to this band...so, if you didn't like this gig, I'm not sure what to tell you man -- not being a dick because to each his own, but just had to say I'm lovin' what I hear and I ain't sleepy at all. I listen to MMW a lot, and this gig is very, very sweet to my ears...granted, I got bit by their electric music first, but many fans consider the acoustic realm to be the band's best...I don't favour one over the other because I think they are incredible in either setting. I say give this one another listen and just hear the communication between these guys....they are so locked in, even on a bad night (for them), that it's almost scary....and I ain't saying this gig is a bad night for these guys...give it another listen...

duggy - you've gotta admit, this show was a little intense - heavy on the free jazz angle, y'know? Perhaps hard for someone who'd never seen them before to appreciate? Having never caught a casually funked out, chiller style electric show? Like you said you "listen to MMW a lot," and onemanband might not.
In summation: this show was awesome, but onemanband - KEEP AT IT! See them electric. It's unbelievable (search for the '06 Skidmore show). |
| duggy |
2007-05-04 21:36:49 |
dandanman - I agree with your sentiment about the show perhaps being a little intense, for sure...especially if you're new to the band. And I was actually trying to be positive just as you were...but wasn't so successful in my delivery...I was in no way trying to be down on onemanband for not digging the show...
onemanband - listen to dandanman...but I was merely pointing out that their acoustic gigs are always hot, and this one is no exception...but I can see how it could seem a little open for somebody just coming for the first time (I know it did for me) and most likely expecting something a little more groovier....when the groove is there, it's there...and when the groove is not there, it's there - it just requires a little more intent in one's listening...and that's part of what I love about these guys...perhaps more than other bands on this board I find MMW require patience in one's listening, which is part of the fun and is always rewarded...
But as I said, I listen to a lot of MMW and I've got a bit of an addiction me thinks...
|
| dandanman |
2007-05-04 21:44:58 |
Addiction, habit - call it what you will. But you're right, MMW does require patience, and probably a little bit of practice, too - and that makes it MUCH more rewarding.
Along those lines, though, I often find the Open/free stuff to be more of something I academically appreciate (their ability to pull off), and actively appreciate less than I do the groovier stuff.
That being said, "when the groove is not there, it's there" <-- f'sho'. |
