| Fairgrounds is fun, night shows are sick. It's all good. Can't stay up til 6 at the Fairgrounds. Can't get crawfish bread at the Maple Leaf. Here's to another great JazzFest in one of my favorite cities in the world. |

Thanks for this - I was at this show and am very happy to see it here.
With respect to fairgrounds vs. night shows, I'm a several-year veteran of JazzFest,and I always do both. I agree with sbb that the fairgrounds are anything but "amatuer" - there is always great music at the fairgrounds. For me it's usually found in the smaller stages where I get exposed to live music I generally don't see elsewhere, such as traditional NOLA jazz, zydeco, and blues and jazz acts I hadn't seen before. I've been turned on to all sorts of great musicians - and musical styles - at the fairgrounds. And the food there... damn I'm missing it already, and it hasn't even been a week yet. So that's why I do the day shows. The night shows - that's of course where the serious throw-downs usually happen, so I can't miss that either. Like rstarr said it's all good ; for me a decent night's sleep has to wait for after the fest.
