<<The Fairgrounds are for tourists, they real deal happenes in the all the Clubs every night.>>

<<i will second that comment about the fairgrounds. it is amatuer hour compared to the club shows. >>

To each their own I guess. I think the joke is on you guys though. The NOLA JazzFest Fairgrounds experience is anything but "amatuer".

Fairgrounds is fun, night shows are sick. It's all good. Can't stay up til 6 at the Fairgrounds. Can't get crawfish bread at the Maple Leaf. Here's to another great JazzFest in one of my favorite cities in the world.

Thanks for this - I was at this show and am very happy to see it here.

With respect to fairgrounds vs. night shows, I'm a several-year veteran of JazzFest, and I always do both. I agree with sbb that the fairgrounds are anything but "amatuer" - there is always great music at the fairgrounds. For me it's usually found in the smaller stages where I get exposed to live music I generally don't see elsewhere, such as traditional NOLA jazz, zydeco, and blues and jazz acts I hadn't seen before. I've been turned on to all sorts of great musicians - and musical styles - at the fairgrounds. And the food there... damn I'm missing it already, and it hasn't even been a week yet. So that's why I do the day shows. The night shows - that's of course where the serious throw-downs usually happen, so I can't miss that either. Like rstarr said it's all good ; for me a decent night's sleep has to wait for after the fest.
