Show Comments:
This is one of the best IFOB I have heard from the 1993 fall tour and several that I am going to release over the next several weeks. I want to thank Clay for his tenacity for always finding the phat spot way down front and for always stoping by and staying a couple of days on his way home from tour.

| What's unusual is the 16/48 combination. Usually it's 16 bits / 44.1k or 24 bits/48k. I just don't know if it matters or what to do with these. |

The 48k files are good for storing in an archive, or burning onto DVD-A, or listening on your computer (if you have the software for that). To make CDRs (for home, car, discman, etc) you have to convert to 44.1k. You can convert with an editor (Soundforge, Cool Edit), or get R8Brain, which is free:
http://www.voxengo.com/product/r8brain/
Of course, if you make 44.1k file-set for CDR, you can't trade that losslessly, and it ends up for your personal use only. You'd have to save the 48k's to share... |

As I thought. That's fine, but given the still relative-rarity of 48k files and the continuing prevalence of CD, I'd say that seeders of 48k files should definitely note this.
Probably, we should all get used to noting the sampling rate of our filesets, whether 44.1 or 48 or something else. But, for sure, I'd call on seeders of 48k files to note this in their info files. |
