Important news from bt.etree.org!

Begining on March 17 2006, all torrents seeded at bt.etree must
include 1) checksum files (.md5, .ffp) that include a checksum for
every lossless audio file in the fileset, and 2) a copy of those
checksums pasted into the torrent description, so everyone can see
them without downloading the fileset.

If you seed a torrent without this information, it will be deleted.
We're telling you this now, so you'll know.

Of course, if there is a problem, we'll try to contact you and help
to fix it. If you don't have a valid e-mail address on your
db.etree.org account, please take a moment to add one. If we can't
contact you, we can't help you, and it be very frustrating for
everyone. Seeders who don't have valid e-mail addresses may find
their logins disabled.

This message will appear on all torrents seeded to bt.etree until
everyone has gotten the message. If your torrent has checksum files
and lists them in the description, thank you! If not, please take a
moment to edit the torrent description to include them. If you have
to add the checksum files from scratch, you'll have to pull this
torrent and start over. Sorry about that.

For help generating checksums, please visit
http://wiki.etree.org or
http://forums.etree.org/viewtopic.php?t=7025. If you have specific
questions, please post them at http://forums.etree.org and someone
will help you ASAP. Please do NOT e-mail us directly.

Thanks, and happy downloading.

What are the differences between this and sbd.2267.shn?

This appears to take 3 discs rather than two.

Looks like the Born Cross Eyed is longer (is it?) and many of the other tunes are tracked a little differently.

How does sound compare? I have had sbd.2267.shn for a few years.
Arbuthnot 2007-07-15 13:53:34
i think the differences are mostly in the way both were tracked, for instance, in the 15640 source, for some reason the beginning of spanish jam is tracked with born crosseyed, and the alligator through feedback is definitely tracked differently in both sources, and a few other examples like that, and from what i can gather there is one less DAT in the 15640, however, to my ears, they both sound the same in terms of sonic quality; and so i wouldn't really sweat over it if you have one source or the other, it's a brilliant show altogether and a great display of the band's acid explorations

Does this contain the ending to Midnight Hour and the radio dj announcements that aired after the song finished?

Back in the 1980's only set 2 circulated because set 1 was not FM broadcast. The 90 min tapes all had the end of Midnight Hour cut off. Then when they came out with the 100 min blanks, there was a version of this show in circulation that had the complete Midnight Hour and some dj's talking after the show ended about it being live from the Carousel and some other stuff.

Jumping on to help seed! :-)

yes to both your queries

very cool, thanks friend!

I believe this is the night Jerry pushed Phil down the backstairs of The Carousel because Phil, caught up in a lysergic moment, had momentarily stopped playing at one point. Despite that, this was one of Phi's favorite nights...
fwagner.etree 2007-07-15 20:45:07
Is this an upgrade to the source of the same show that was seeded a week ago? It's source goes: MR>DAT>DAT>CD>EAC>SHN
And it has supplemental tracks that have been de-hissed -- your choice on which to use.
tobagginoggin 2007-07-16 18:15:00
A comment at the Live Music Archive claims that the Morning Dew (included both here and in the previously seeded source) is actually the opener from 1/14/1967 - "The Great Human Be-In" at Golden Gate Park. Checking the databases for 2/14/68's setlist reveals a disparity: Deadlists includes the song while Deadbase does not.

Does anyone know if a consensus has been reached one way or the other, or is it just one of those mysteries lost to the days between?

if the question has been raised as to the validity of the morn' dew track that is included with 2/14/68, i can't really say whether it does or does not belong with the show, and it may very well be one of those unsolvable mysteries; however, i will say that the morn' dew that is part of 1/14/67 clocks in at 9'11, whereas the 2/14/68 morn' dew clocks in at 6'25; also, if you listen to the two versions side-by-side (i chose the last minute of each track) they are clearly two different versions; hope this helps

Thanks Arbuthnot for the seed and the reply. Buth are appreciated.

any seeders out there? Thanks!

"I believe this is the night Jerry pushed Phil down the backstairs of The Carousel because Phil, caught up in a lysergic moment, had momentarily stopped playing at one point. Despite that, this was one of Phi's favorite nights..."

"A Long Strange Trip" says this event happened after the Detroit shows, which would make the date March 29, 30, or 31. Anybody know which show for sure? I bet no one knows. I'd love to hear that show. It could have been this one, however, since they say they used music from the show of which the aforementioned event occured. But then again, they also used music from the aformentioned March dates at the Carousel. I'll send a check for $1 to the person who PROVES to me which show this occured and also seeds the recording. How's that for an offer!!!!
hseamons 2007-09-10 02:43:41
If the difference between the two sources recently seeded of this show is just track listings, why are they significantly different file sizes?
hseamons 2007-09-10 17:06:05
^^Nevermind. The other has supplemental tracks with hiss reduction - as it says in the description - somehow I prefer the originals. Oh how I've wasted my time posting these messages!
thensea 2008-02-15 01:42:47
Wow this is moving fast for having been up here for awhile.
I guess it's because it's the 40 year anniversary.
Thanks to the seeders that are around still providing it.
Somehow I never got it before.
Actually judging from the original comment it looks like there are a few other gaps I can fill in my 68 collection also.
