| Thank you for sharing this gem. unfortunately your capture sounds better than the SDB. I don't know anything about fixing levels, but the SDB portion is just way too bassy and hollow. If there is someone out there who could wash this through some sort of software (I don't know but i've heard of it having been done before, if I knew how I would do it for myself). Hate to be a critic but I was really digging it up until track 5. |

I am grateful to all who made it possible for me to acquire this recording. However...
I find this recording problematic in a few respects. I will discuss them briefly below.
This show comes with a date designation of "April 21, 1998" and a venue designation of "Cafe Tomo [sic], Arcata, Ca." There was no "Cafe Torno, Arcata, Ca" (correct name of venue) show during 1998. JID did perform at "Cafe Torno, Arcata, Ca" on April 29, 1999. However, by then Billy Cobham had been replaced by Jeff Sipe. On this recording, Billy Cobham is credited in the recording itself (at the end of track 13). Therefore, I take the April 21, 1998 date to be correct, but the "Cafe Torno" venue designation to be erroneous. The correct venue for the April 21, 1998 show date is "Palookaville, Santa Cruz, Ca." (see: http://www.tlavitz.net/tour1998.html)
The tracking as it stands cuts songs apart that should be together. Examples are:
Tracks 02 & 03 where track 03 should be the applause at the end of track 02.
Tracks 04 & 05 which together are one song, "Scarlet Begonias"
Ttracks 11, 12, & 13 which together are the song "Crazy Fingers" with the applause ending the show at the end.
Finally, track 14 is actually a replication of the ending music segment of track 12. How this happened and was included in the file set for this torrent is mystifying, and should be deleted.
The file set is badly in need of normalization, and as another comment suggested, some equalization could be applied.
If retracked, one gets the following file set:
