Set 1+2
(tapers section DFC) Neumann U89i (hypercard, DIN, -80h)>
Lunatec V2> Apogee Minime> Tascam HD-P2 (24/48) on a Sandisc Ultra II 4gb CF card.
Fade in/out, resample, and dithered using Apogee Uv22hr in Wavelab 4.
I did the best I could with the tracking and don't have a set list.
It would be super cool if someone could put this on archive for me.
Email me with any reseed requests.

"Any feeling on which of these two Neumann recordings sound better?"
I'm enjoying the one from tufflitestudios, myself. Rob Clarke's recordings are always top notch, but I'm hearing a fuller sound out of tufflites this time around.
For what it's worth...
Enjoy the music! |

ummm... i don't remember Unbroken Chain being played.
are you guys sure they played it???
but damn... that Bertha to close set one was absolutely MONSTROUS.
was anyone else in the back right corner of the arena to see that completely fucked hippie have his pants fall down and projectile vomit twice all over the stairs? |

i def remember the unbroken chain. and i also remember that guy totally whacked rolling around on the floor. luckily i missed the part about his pants falling down and vomitting.
i stopped drinking for the night after i saw the shape he was in. |

| Someone asked for a comparison between the two sources of this show (Neumann KM184 vs. Neumann U89i). I've given a very close listen to both Deep Ellum and Wharf Rat from both sources. They're both a little unbalanced, both from great tapers with great mics, obviously struggling to capture all the sound without being overwhelmed. To my ears, Rob's KM184 source is cleaner, with more top end definition and less room noise - but less low bass. The U89i's definitely capture more detail on Phil's low notes throughout, but the recording has a little more echo; and although the bass sounds fuller, everything else sounds a little distant and less detailed - again, to my ears. So I suggest listening to a track from each torrent and deciding for yourself which you like better. Since I want to hear the guitar interplay, I think I'm going with Rob's copy for now, with plans to buy the soundboard when it becomes available. Hope this helps some of you... again, YMMV! It would be cool to matrix these two sources together, if someone knows how to do that... Again, props to both tapers, no criticism, I've been listening to the challenging full sound all tour, it's hard to capture both full bass and mid-range detail. In fact, I haven't heard a single all-around great audience recording so far this tour, so I know it's tough... Where can I learn to make matrix mixes? Cheers, PeterT |
