Notes: Joan Osborne was supported at this show by the Cowboy Junkies*, who kindly put me on the guestlist to record at a venue that is normally not very taper friendly.
Joan Osborne, to my knowledge, does not have an open taping policy and I fortunately met and spoke with her tour manager/sound engineer before her set. He gave me permission to record her set, although also saying that she does not generally allow taping. During pack-down after the show we were able to transfer a copy of the raw tracks to his laptop. I asked about sharing the recording and posting it on the net, and he responded that I should wait a month and give him a chance to listen first, but that it was OK if he did not send a message saying otherwise. Four months later, I am happy to share.
Thank you to Joan Osborne and her tour manager/sound engineer for allowing this recording.
**Please do not sell or attempt to profit off the sharing of this recording in any way**

Important news from bt.etree.org!
Begining on March 17 2006, all torrents seeded at bt.etree must
include 1) checksum files (.md5, .ffp) that include a checksum for
every lossless audio file in the fileset, and 2) a copy of those
checksums pasted into the torrent description, so everyone can see
them without downloading the fileset.
If you seed a torrent without this information, it will be deleted.
We're telling you this now, so you'll know.
Of course, if there is a problem, we'll try to contact you and help
to fix it. If you don't have a valid e-mail address on your
db.etree.org account, please take a moment to add one. If we can't
contact you, we can't help you, and it be very frustrating for
everyone. Seeders who don't have valid e-mail addresses may find
their logins disabled.
This message will appear on all torrents seeded to bt.etree until
everyone has gotten the message. If your torrent has checksum files
and lists them in the description, thank you! If not, please take a
moment to edit the torrent description to include them. If you have
to add the checksum files from scratch, you'll have to pull this
torrent and start over. Sorry about that.
For help generating checksums, please visit
http://wiki.etree.org or
http://forums.etree.org/viewtopic.php?t=7025. If you have specific
questions, please post them at http://forums.etree.org and someone
will help you ASAP. Please do NOT e-mail us directly.
Thanks, and happy downloading. |

"Always thought this technique would be great for arenas."
I think it came out OK under the circumstances, but not as well as I hoped.
This was an outdoor show and it was breezy, so I rolled off the mix below 80hz to minimize any wind rumble. The frequency band seemed a bit skewed and almost harsh to me at times in the midrange (1-2.5k or so) by comparison to the Cowboy Junkies', though I did not attempt to EQ that and left it as is to be adjusted to the listener's system/taste. The shotguns (true to their nature) also really brought out and exaggerated the toms and some of the fader action in the mix. Although adding the center channel 414 smoothed it out some - and warmed/opened up the sound - I decided to still use a soft knee limiter to reign in the dynamics of the drums a touch. |

| This is totally Fire trUCKing awesome. The Dead fans that did not appreciate Joan for what she can really do on the '03 tour should be shot. It has alway been my feeling that the '04s never held a candle to the '03 shows with Joan. The Janis factor and the fact the her "Relish" was grammy nominated, but a human solid waste orifaces that did the final voted didn't know human solid waste from shinola makes may point. Thanks much to the Cowboys hand in this recording making to circurlation. |
