Here's a non-stage source of this killer show. The club's PA system was arranged weird: subs lining the underside of the stage & the mid - high boxes on shelves that were about 15 feet off the ground pointing straight out. I set up on the top of a stairway ending up very close to center & a couple feet under the shelved PA speakers, about 40 feet from the stage. Enjoy!!

Important news from bt.etree.org!
Begining on March 17 2006, all torrents seeded at bt.etree must
include 1) checksum files (.md5, .ffp) that include a checksum for
every lossless audio file in the fileset, and 2) a copy of those
checksums pasted into the torrent description, so everyone can see
them without downloading the fileset.
If you seed a torrent without this information, it will be deleted.
We're telling you this now, so you'll know.
Of course, if there is a problem, we'll try to contact you and help
to fix it. If you don't have a valid e-mail address on your
db.etree.org account, please take a moment to add one. If we can't
contact you, we can't help you, and it be very frustrating for
everyone. Seeders who don't have valid e-mail addresses may find
their logins disabled.
This message will appear on all torrents seeded to bt.etree until
everyone has gotten the message. If your torrent has checksum files
and lists them in the description, thank you! If not, please take a
moment to edit the torrent description to include them. If you have
to add the checksum files from scratch, you'll have to pull this
torrent and start over. Sorry about that.
For help generating checksums, please visit
http://wiki.etree.org or
http://forums.etree.org/viewtopic.php?t=7025. If you have specific
questions, please post them at http://forums.etree.org and someone
will help you ASAP. Please do NOT e-mail us directly.
Thanks, and happy downloading. |

| Thanks for posting your source. I thought it sounded kind of poor in the room, so if you pulled a good recording, even more credit to you and your gear. |

You're quite welcome! The recording is definitely good, I don't know if it's truly great or not. Everything can definitely be heard & there is bottom end, but if I was picky I'd take some more low-mid "beef". That's if I was picky though, it sounds pretty damn good!
I plan on uploading the 24/96 version to the archive in the next few days, if anyone's interested. |

| After briefly checking out the stage mic source, I bet a mix of the 2 sources would be very interesting. The guitar sounds incredible on both, the bass has more body on the stage recording, & the kick drum & vocals are more present on this version. I really don't have the capability to do that (yet), but if someone does - by all means! |

I give my permission for my source to be used for anyone who wants to combine the two. Mine is going to be missing a small bit during "Something Wicked" due to a MD flip, hence the split.
It would be a a very interesting mix, considering the different proximities, and the best of both would probably destroy!
Whoever does it, crank the guitar in the mix. |

Hey guys...winter weather has me indoors and here's a sample of me mixing the 2 shows (disc 1 so far) together.... Arcme's show provides the guitar punch and sharp sounds while Taperjoe's show provides the vocal boost and midrange and also provides a spacial element.
Here's track 1 in mp3...let me know what you think or if you want to hear more... if both of you approve, I'll post the mixed show somewhere (don't know that the rules here allow mixing of audio shows?! I'll have to check up on that)
thx
Note, I've got some funky user authentication on this area that I was playing with a year ago, so you try the MP3 link and you get redirected to a webpage, then try this, go to this link first
http://www.katpurz.com/RUSH/
...the above link should give you some 404 type error.. THEN go to the mp3 link below... (which should backdoor the security..try this on other sites too :P)
http://www.katpurz.com/d1t1.mp3
If none of that works, yell at me and I'll remove the silly security from the webspace...
thanks

kat, you are hired!
As far as I'm concerned, that sounds great to me.
You don't know what you are getting yourself into though.
Do you realize how much CDG stuff I have two sources for that you could work on? Some things have several cuts, because they were recorded on cassette, and so therefore the pitch could be imperfect as well.
But I'll bet you would be the most appreciative of such a "labor of love", and the happiest with the results! Plus, you'd be in Duarte audio up to your eyeballs. Let me know. |

Taperjoe: as an fyi, track 7 is "I'll Never Know" by Bluestone.
Sweet..I've got this whole show mixed down now and it sounds awesome... I'll check the rules here and other places and find a proper home, crediting both of your original sources and readmes
Arcme262, I'm always up for mixing multiple source Duarte shows!!! I used to mix local bands and have the equipment necessary... :D
I'll point you to the torrent of this mix when it finds a home and you can decide :D
thx guys |

| So, just curious, how much of "Something Wicked" was I missing, and was that hard to deal with? |
| katpurz |
2007-12-08 13:40:09 |
it's missing aprox 30 seconds... as kind of a high level overview, I mixed yours as the master, overlaying Taperjoes source, syncing it up (having to stretch its tempo by milliseconds to get everything to match up)...Taperjoe's volume is at about 75% to yours...and then between songs (when it's Chris talking), Taperjoe's volume comes down to about 50% (sounds quieter that way).
so during Something Wicked, there's 30 seconds where the full sound drops out but the song keeps going...then it actually kicks back in with full sound at just about the right time! (When the song goes from soft to hard and powerful...heh).
