Important news from bt.etree.org!
Begining on March 17 2006, all torrents seeded at bt.etree must
include 1) checksum files (.md5, .ffp) that include a checksum for
every lossless audio file in the fileset, and 2) a copy of those
checksums pasted into the torrent description, so everyone can see
them without downloading the fileset.

Just visited a Joanna Newsom fan site where the show link had been posted. A lot of the posts were about converting the show to mp3 and then there was a link to a site where it was converted and uploaded. I saw the show was given a single star rating to start when it first went up and before anyone could have actually downloaded it. I've seen recently other shows by other artists getting the same and posts ranting about taper's obsession with lossles format. I really don't understand. Maybe I'm getting too old.
Think I'll go play my vinyl copy of "Ys"! |

thanks for the post! i'm happy to see some joanna up.
why no tags, though? FLAC has an excellent tagging system and it's very easy to do, esp. since you can put in custom tags such as "taper", "venue", "source" or "equipment" or whatever you like. I'd tag my own except that then i'd have to stop seeding. |
