Important news from bt.etree.org!

Begining on March 17 2006, all torrents seeded at bt.etree must
include 1) checksum files (.md5, .ffp) that include a checksum for
every lossless audio file in the fileset, and 2) a copy of those
checksums pasted into the torrent description, so everyone can see
them without downloading the fileset.

If you seed a torrent without this information, it will be deleted.
We're telling you this now, so you'll know.

Of course, if there is a problem, we'll try to contact you and help
to fix it. If you don't have a valid e-mail address on your
db.etree.org account, please take a moment to add one. If we can't
contact you, we can't help you, and it be very frustrating for
everyone. Seeders who don't have valid e-mail addresses may find
their logins disabled.

This message will appear on all torrents seeded to bt.etree until
everyone has gotten the message. If your torrent has checksum files
and lists them in the description, thank you! If not, please take a
moment to edit the torrent description to include them. If you have
to add the checksum files from scratch, you'll have to pull this
torrent and start over. Sorry about that.

For help generating checksums, please visit
http://wiki.etree.org or
http://forums.etree.org/viewtopic.php?t=7025. If you have specific
questions, please post them at http://forums.etree.org and someone
will help you ASAP. Please do NOT e-mail us directly.

Thanks, and happy downloading.

There's a very good MTX for this show torrented here:

http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=512299

I decided to seed the SBD which doesn't seem to have circulated here, and then also reseed the MTX in case anyone wants it.

There are a lot of people who will argue that this is the finest performance Bruce ever gave while playing with the Grateful Dead. There are also people who will argue that this show is one of the top 30-40 shows the band ever played. I'm not sure I've heard enough yet to make a statement like that, but certainly the band gets to the zone and stays there throughout most of the show. An Eyes opener. Almost non-stop Dark Star teasing. An incredible Cassidy. Maybe the best Saint of Circumstance ever. Maybe the best New Speedway played in the later years. And so on and so on. You want a listening copy of this show....
ajackins 2008-03-14 16:12:09
Based on the 35 shows i 'attended' this one is maybe tops...The tapes are great but, they only tell part of the story.
cleofus 2008-03-14 16:23:05
My friends and i dubbed this "the night of the darkstar teases" but looking back on it, i realize it was more of a month. I imagine this is just a continuation of the unfinished darkstar they started a few days earlier at RFK, jammed out a few days later at soldier field, and then teased up at Mile High on 6/28. I also remember the lightning storm and everyone being cleared from the field and huddled in the corridors and I recall watching the loose lucy from under a tarp, listening to it through headphones, while the rain poured down. What a great way to start the summer!

by the way, did i say that this show looks incredible...thanks again
92gli 2008-03-14 21:25:52
Not sure if its the best hornsby show, or in the top 30 ever. But, it is one of those shows where the entire band displays supreme confidence from start to finish. And for that alone, its a must have.
Tiger2 2008-03-14 22:25:25
Best Horsby, great question, unanswerable of course as are all matters of opinion. It's a reasonable nominee for best single Hornsby show, with Greensboro as best pair? I had more fun at second night Greensboro, but this is a great show. It's definitely the best latter era New Speedway I've heard & the segues and quotes, and the great opener, make it unique.

In addition to the energy factor, that's a big thing for me. The best Dead shows are all unique, They have something that sets them apart. This is one of those.

As a dedicated fan of post-79 Dead I have to say I think all of the greatest 40 shows occurred before the end of April 1978, with at least half of them from fall 72 to summer 74 & half the rest in 69 and 70...but that's the beauty, everyone gets to make their own list. This would certainly be in the top 30 shows I saw ;o)

And since that is the second comment I've made in one of these threads that's in disagreement I should say again that I am in fact loving these hearing these shows again - or the upgrades in some cases. I've grabbed several and will keep the active ones alive as long as they're rolling. I would definitely recommend this show to any fan of latter-era Dead without hesitation.
SteveSw 2008-03-15 02:24:41
I say the things I'm saying partly to give a sense to people of what's going on, and partly just to getting people interested in this period, and partly just for entertainment. I'm happy when you disagree, the only sad thing would be inattention.

I can understand people being generally down on the "Vince" period. I think there is so much of interest in the "Bruce" period that it leans against the "Vince" problems and makes for some fine music. That's the real goal, to get people thinking about the possibility of that.
1zeppelin2 2008-03-15 08:18:47
1991 is new to me and I'm digging these shows.

Thanks
crypticalone 2008-03-15 11:26:18
This was my era. I loved seeing the dead. It may not have been 73, but it was now and happening..Hornsby added a ton and this is a great example...I also love the Pine Knob Throwing Stones Sandwich...That was cool.

Thank you very much

Thank You -This looks great - Looks like a hell of a setlist and if Bruce was on and driving the action, I'm sure it smokes. I really enjoyed the acoustic piano leads and fills that he added - souded very sweet.
tallboy333 2010-05-05 20:12:29
Yes, this was a really great and unique show. The whole tour after RFK had Dark Star teases but the closest they got was the jam at Soldiers Field. The tease at Mile High was just hellish because it came after Wharf Rat of all things, they threw the space scenes back up on the giant screens for about thirty seconds and had a good laugh at us crazy fools!

When they teased the Star in the first set here you could hear the whole crowd give a collective "OHHH" because after the Eyes opener who knew what to expect. My first China Doll as well, and the only one of the tour. Later that year they would play the Star in the first set, the only one from the "modern" era.

The energy level here is very high, every song played like it meant something and Jerry really killing it on the solos.
pdxcrowesfan 2011-05-06 10:26:13
Looking good. Thanks to you and the seeders. Peace
