Important news from bt.etree.org!
Begining on March 17 2006, all torrents seeded at bt.etree must
include 1) checksum files (.md5, .ffp) that include a checksum for
every lossless audio file in the fileset, and 2) a copy of those
checksums pasted into the torrent description, so everyone can see
them without downloading the fileset.
If you seed a torrent without this information, it will be deleted.
We're telling you this now, so you'll know.
Of course, if there is a problem, we'll try to contact you and help
to fix it. If you don't have a valid e-mail address on your
db.etree.org account, please take a moment to add one. If we can't
contact you, we can't help you, and it be very frustrating for
everyone. Seeders who don't have valid e-mail addresses may find
their logins disabled.
This message will appear on all torrents seeded to bt.etree until
everyone has gotten the message. If your torrent has checksum files
and lists them in the description, thank you! If not, please take a
moment to edit the torrent description to include them. If you have
to add the checksum files from scratch, you'll have to pull this
torrent and start over. Sorry about that.
For help generating checksums, please visit
http://wiki.etree.org or
http://forums.etree.org/viewtopic.php?t=7025. If you have specific
questions, please post them at http://forums.etree.org and someone
will help you ASAP. Please do NOT e-mail us directly.
Thanks, and happy downloading. |

The band was on an astonishing run as it pulled into Pine Knob: the RFK show was excellent, and then the second of the Giants' Stadium shows was even excellenter. This show had been eclipsed in my mind by 91-06-20, but listening to it again, I had to say it's also darned good. I've read interviews with Hornsby where he credits playing with the Grateful Dead has having had a profound impact on his interest in and ability to play extemporaneously. Maybe what we're hearing in this run of summer shows is a big jump in his talent, and the impact that has on the rest of the band....
Unlike earlier, when I thought the first sets of the Hornsby shows were the most noteworthy, here in Pine Knob the second sets are particularly worth checking out. What's cool is how unexpected the song progressions are, and the playing. I like Victim going into Scarlet, I like the Iko-sounding version of Man Smart (Woman Smarter), I really like the jamming that takes the place of Space, and I especially like what happens when the ballad and The Other One come in the "wrong" order out of the Space Jam.
In addition to this sbd, there are two AUDs for this show available up on the LMA:

You can buy the SBD for 91-06-20 from the Dead Store:

And, there are also two AUDs available on the LMA for 06-20:

these shows are unforgetable
the 1st set was good
the second set is even better
at the end of victim mickey stratles his beam & starts humping it
the whole band turns & looks at him & bobby scratching his head
jerry just carries on into scarlet
yes the jam into stella is wild the band winds down for stella but phil isnt happy about it & says so but follows anyway
then the other one is very well done & ends like cryptical ends
followed by id have to say the smokenest johnny b goode ive heard
these pine knob shows are some of my favorites of the later years
thanks for upping these
ps i did get a hold of my buddy with 1991-04-03 i just havent been able to meet with him to get his tapes yet unknown cas gen but 1 less gen then mine. be patient i will get this up soon. |

I hope I don't sound like a dick, but some of the songs from this show have been officially released. I bought Dead Download Series Vol. 11, which is the complete show from 6/20 but also includes the Scarlet -> Fire as well as Stella Blue -> Other One -> Johnny B. Goode from this show as bonus tracks.
The last thing anyone would like to see is etree getting in trouble and that is why I am posting this. No offense to the uploader intended in any way whatsoever...
Perhaps this could be re-uploaded with the officially released tracks removed? |

The only way one would be held as violating the stated band policy regarding the exchange of commercially available shows would be if this show was either: 1) the actual commercial release, or 2) pulled from the same source. This source is neither but good-on-ya for the heads up.
I was at these shows and was completely blown away - there was really something electric in the air during this run - the energy at these Pine Knob shows was palpable, simply amazing. As samstone stated, the space->Stella has Phil trying to veer the ship towards the other one but Jerry just rips it from him. Phil is just fighting it, hits a few disgruntled bombs, and instantly just sets right into stella. When stella ends, they just rip the other one, and the johnny BG is just a boogie-woogie jam fest with Bruce just lighting it up.
FWIW - I think this source has a mild level of distortion. DO check out ladner audience source - wonderful recording.
