Important news from bt.etree.org!

Begining on March 17 2006, all torrents seeded at bt.etree must
include 1) checksum files (.md5, .ffp) that include a checksum for
every lossless audio file in the fileset, and 2) a copy of those
checksums pasted into the torrent description, so everyone can see
them without downloading the fileset.

If you seed a torrent without this information, it will be deleted.
We're telling you this now, so you'll know.

Of course, if there is a problem, we'll try to contact you and help
to fix it. If you don't have a valid e-mail address on your
db.etree.org account, please take a moment to add one. If we can't
contact you, we can't help you, and it be very frustrating for
everyone. Seeders who don't have valid e-mail addresses may find
their logins disabled.

This message will appear on all torrents seeded to bt.etree until
everyone has gotten the message. If your torrent has checksum files
and lists them in the description, thank you! If not, please take a
moment to edit the torrent description to include them. If you have
to add the checksum files from scratch, you'll have to pull this
torrent and start over. Sorry about that.

For help generating checksums, please visit
http://wiki.etree.org or
http://forums.etree.org/viewtopic.php?t=7025. If you have specific
questions, please post them at http://forums.etree.org and someone
will help you ASAP. Please do NOT e-mail us directly.

Thanks, and happy downloading.

I taped these shows, and I just wanted to confirm the source info. It states the location as front right lip of SBD. I was in the tapersection at the front at the rear right side of the SBD, and I swear I don't recall ever seeing open rigs in front. I know some PMC tapers were stealthing Schoeps and such way FOB, but a really am not sure this source location claim is possible. I could be wrong as it has been 21 years, but I don't think I am.

Great show !!

Thanks for posting !!
rustystrings 2008-04-11 18:45:29
i transferred em from the master casettes, so info is correct..
joe-beacon 2008-04-11 19:08:00
i also taped these shows and i posted them up on here a few months ago . i was dead center behind the board in the tapers section and i can tell you there was no one taping with a open rig in front of the board . they started shutting everyone down from taping in front of the board in late 1985 . so the info is wrong about where the loaction of this recording is . i would say the guy taped it from the tapers pit ...thanks for the upload .joe
terrapincane 2008-04-11 20:30:54
must-have AUD :)
rustystrings 2008-04-11 20:32:46
ill ask the taper, but this location was for all three shows..his memory usually serves weLL.
garageboy 2008-04-11 20:33:22
Hmmmm... well... I don't know about you guys...but we set up to the right of the sbd, pretty much at the front lip...a bit to the right...and did not get hassled at all. We stayed cool for the pre-show, and when it was lights out time, we got going, but did not raise our stand to 12' tall...we were just over head height...under 6'...and my buddy Mike Rice (RIP) was a tall guy, (about 6'5") so he was pretty good cover. If you were behind us, you could not see the rig. And we always draped the mics in a black shawl. At this show...no problems. We were always FOB in 82-84, but that was before OTS. A few years later we got hassled once for being a bit in front of the OTS...can't remember where that was, maybe at the Rosemont in Chicago...but a little brown vial solved that problem. Work with what ya got. The lineage for this recording is correct. Let your ears do the talking.
garageboy 2008-04-11 21:04:53
Oh, yeah, now I remember, the little brown vial incident was not in Chicago, but it was at Alpine 89 - third show...the REAL rainy one...:-) After two nights out on the lawn, giving up our pavilion seats, on night 3 We set up RIGHT in FOB...guys at board saw what we were doin...so we struck a deal...I tried to pass them a patch cord in trade so we could get a board patch...no dice on that attempt..but they left us alone the rest of the night....

As I always like to point out, there is a great audience dvd video of this show that circultes. Keep your eyes out for it...........TERRAPIN!!!!
johnnychan 2008-04-11 22:14:12
OOOOOPS!!!! And thank you so much for this show. Did all Hampton from '85 - '88! Good times!! Peace........
toomanycds 2008-04-11 23:32:30
I saw the Hampton's 85-92 and this TERRAPIN truly stands out, with the rest of the show being quite good as well. Even with Box and Visions in 86, Dark/Death/Attics in 89 as highlights, this stands out as Jerry pounds the the climax repeatedly before letting go for drumz. These "welcome back Jerry" shows had a joy that probably can't be fully captured by any tape. Knowing that GD shows would continue after the 86 coma led to roar after roar from the crowd. The songs were tight but not as improvisational; tours would continue!.
kymule 2008-04-12 01:56:55
yes - the Terrapin!!

The Let It Grow is also quite nice - at one point you can actually see JErry swoon!

Thanks for your efforts tapers & sharers, all of you.

johnnya67 2008-04-12 10:17:55
Saw Hampton thru Philly and have to say that all shows were solid. This Terrapin is HUGE though. Saw mention of an aud DVD. Can anyone direct me to this? Thank you for the post.
rustystrings 2008-04-12 16:11:08
for the taping location doubters, lest we forget that we deadheads are masters at doing things less than allowed, right in the face of security and as it shows here, other deadheads.

seedin_for_jesus 2008-04-12 19:18:22
I am surprised with everyone here.....this got over 250 completes at LL and only 50 or so here......This is a great recording......
Tiger2 2008-04-12 22:22:25
thanks so much for another great source of this show! I'm really looking forward to this. I agree with everything that was said above - i'm stoked to see it because I have been pimping this terrapin forever so it's great to see how much love it gets these days. It's the best terrapin fanfare I've ever heard, with epic waves of drawn-out crescendoes rising and falling seemingly forever. In the room it was a annihilatingly psychedelic, it left every one I knew in psychic ruins, stumbling numb and brainless through drums and space. If you think you know a better one for god's sake please tell me cause I'd like to hear it!

This was just ahead of the Roanoke crazy fingers/comes a time business and shoreline maggies > cumberland for my favorite moment of the year in 87. And yeah, maybe my single favorite Hampton moment even with everything else they played in the shows I saw there tween 85 and 89.

I can't wait to get this one up loud.
Freeborn_Man 2008-04-12 23:06:41
Joe,
FYI...Irecorded at the front sides of the sbd through 1988. I believe that they cut off the sides and forced us into the section behind the sbd...then evetually upstairs in the back.
