DescriptionPhil Lesh & Friends
5-11-8 @ The Greek Theatre, Los Angeles CA

I: Tuning, Shakedown Street->Friend of the Devil, Bertha, Ball & Chain, Beat It on Down The Line,
Cumberland Blues, Sugaree

II: New Speedway Boogie, Don't Let The Devil Take Your Mind, Jack Straw, China Cat Sunflower->
I Know You Rider, Unbroken Chain->The Wheel->Franklin's Tower

<<<Cody>>>/Who's in the Band?
E: Box of Rain

Notes: If you are making audio cds, a nice break can be found as per disc 2: s2t1-s2t5,
disc 3: s2t6-s2ta

This was an exceptional show.

For instance, outside of the 'traditional' prefaced beat-count of biodtl, Box of Rain featured
a subtle lyric variation; mana points to you if you can hear the difference.

Sound path: Neumann skm 140s->Sound Devices 722->Resample-1.8+(24/192->16/44.1khz);
minor glitch fixes w/ cooledit.

Important news from bt.etree.org!

Begining on March 17 2006, all torrents seeded at bt.etree must
include 1) checksum files (.md5, .ffp) that include a checksum for
every lossless audio file in the fileset, and 2) a copy of those
checksums pasted into the torrent description, so everyone can see
them without downloading the fileset.

If you seed a torrent without this information, it will be deleted.
We're telling you this now, so you'll know.

Of course, if there is a problem, we'll try to contact you and help
to fix it. If you don't have a valid e-mail address on your
db.etree.org account, please take a moment to add one. If we can't
contact you, we can't help you, and it be very frustrating for
everyone. Seeders who don't have valid e-mail addresses may find
their logins disabled.

This message will appear on all torrents seeded to bt.etree until
everyone has gotten the message. If your torrent has checksum files
and lists them in the description, thank you! If not, please take a
moment to edit the torrent description to include them. If you have
to add the checksum files from scratch, you'll have to pull this
torrent and start over. Sorry about that.

For help generating checksums, please visit
http://wiki.etree.org or
http://forums.etree.org/viewtopic.php?t=7025. If you have specific
questions, please post them at http://forums.etree.org and someone
will help you ASAP. Please do NOT e-mail us directly.

Thanks, and happy downloading.

Thanks, JB. I always enjoy your recordings. Looking forward to this one, especially. Isn't it amazing how Phil just keeps going and going. Kind of gives a new meaning to that 'Reddy" character on Tapecats art!

This has turned into an historic-ish run. LOL

I am hoping Phil keeps it cooking right through the east coast run. I will be at several of those shows. Wish I could be there NOW!!

Thanks a lot. I was front row for second set and thoroughly enjoyed myself. The Franklin's Tower was off the hook!

I think there was also some added/modified lyrics in Friend of the Devil.
padelimike 2008-05-17 03:05:26
"You can borrow from the devil,
you can borrow from a friend.
But the devil give you twenty when your
friend got only ten."

In 1984, at the Ripley Music Hall in Philly, Robert Hunter performed that verse in FOTD and explained (either before or after) that it was an original lyric he wrote for the song, but the band never played it.

RH was always a great show, nice and intimate at The Ripley!

That sounds like the verse I heard. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the recording and a fine job getting this show up and the closing of the Warfield. I noticed last week when I went to see Poor Man's Whiskey that during FOTD they sung the "You can borrow from the devil,
you can borrow from a friend.
But the devil give you twenty when your
friend got only ten." verse also and it caught me by surprise.
Peace

To Joe,

I have taken your advise and chosen not to download any of your postings, ever again. This is not because of the text files, but because of the personal attack you made against me and others during this discourse. Some people have different opinions than yours. We get to discuss them in this forum. That's the way it goes. . I enjoyed listening to 5/14 very much, but I still rate it as a B+, in my headphones. Sorry if my opinions bug you, but that's what I think. I've deleted those files and will now patiently wait for an alternate source. A source not provided by someone who feels the need to debase another person just because the profer an opposing opinion.

Peace,

Thanks Phil

And thanks for all the great shows I've heard in the past because of your efforts, it is truly appreciated. You just should of left my kid outs of it. By the way there college funds are doing great without the two cents you so genorously offered.
