Thanks to all the hard work from the folks mentioned above in
their loving care getting these sources out. Both audience
recordings were nothing short of spectacular and the transfer
jobs to digital were all very well done.

Tech Notes

FLAC/SHNs were decoded to wave. Wavmerge was used to reassemble
the tracks back to 1 long wave. CEP2.0 was used to align &
synch all of the sources. SF8.0 was used for the EQ setting
pre mixdown. This is a 40% SBD, 30% AUD1, 30% AUD2 mix.

Notes

No noise reduction whatsoever was used in this mix. The
SBD does have some sort of line level buzz/hiss that
changes as well as increases, decreases and disappears
throughout. At times it is not even noticeable and now
that is in a mix with 2 other recordings it is not at
all bothersome. All attempts to remove this noise has
resulted in undesirable effects like removing some of
the music and/or the induction of digital artifacts.

SBD was missing some of the between song crowd as well
as some stage banter. This is now 100% complete. The
holes were patched with a matrix mix of the 2 AUD sources.
These patches were made using a variety of edits, volume
adjustments, EQing and crossfaded. These patches are
smooth and natural and likely completely undetectable.

SBD was missing a small portion of the feedback ending
to 'Like A Hurricane', some of the between song crowd
cheering as well as some stage banter. This hole was
patched with a matrix mix of the 2 AUD sources. This
patch was made using a variety of edits: volume
adjustments, EQing and crossfaded. These patches are
smooth and natural and likely completely undetectable.

SBD was missing a portion of the between song crowd
cheering between 'Roll Another Number' and 'Down By The
River. This hole was patched with a matrix mix of the
2 AUD sources. This patch was made using a variety of
edits: volume adjustments, EQing and crossfaded. These
patches are smooth and natural and likely completely
undetectable.

The disc break is seamless and the 2 disc and be rejoined
seamlessly on longer media.

This version is approx 5 minutes longer than all other
circulating SBD versions.

this is the sixth summer since this show. It has been in my cd player since July of '03. Thanks for the upload. I can emphatically endorse this one to anyone who's thinking about grabbing it.

"Smell the horse on this one..."

"you gotta take the first step. You gotta crawl to be tall..."

I haven't listened to the DTS but the problem I had with the Matrix was the sbd is hissy in some parts, especially the quiet intro to cortez the killer....shame, for this matrix recording is unbelievable.
enochroot 2008-06-10 21:34:25
this show is absolutely awesome. the sbd has been a staple for me the past few years. i can't wait to hear it in 5.1. thanks for doing this!
rbarnwal 2008-06-10 21:43:08

I have been to every single Roo and when asked what my greatest show that I ever saw down on the farm....I instantly say "Neil Young" I just cant think of any that I truly enjoyed more. I wasnt even in the grounds at the time. I watched and listened from on top of our RV.

Cant wait for this weekend......
kagee 2008-06-11 03:43:18
I already have this one in a remastered version but a dts version is too good to pass up.

Now if anyone could give me instructions on how to burn the show to disc I would really appreciate it. :)
obaaron 2008-06-11 11:09:59
as far as burning...convert and burn just like any other show...

thanks!
cosmicharley 2008-06-11 12:54:15
Burn as a normal CD. You MUST listen to it on a 5.1 DTS system. A regular CD player will NOT play it.

Hopefully you have the newer, multi source matrix. This hiss is so minor, I don't see how it could detract from any enjoyment whatsoever. These ears were born of the analog years so maybe I just know how to hear it and then forget it.

I would avoid all copies that have any NR. It cannot be done successfully. I tried 3 or 4 different ways on using a multitude software

From the notes:
No noise reduction whatsoever was used in this mix. The

I decoded these Flacs > Wav in Flac frontend and it plays nothing but hiss. I haven't had issues with other 24 bit flac. What do I need to do to decode these?
jesapizza 2009-04-06 18:59:36
same problem as tjock--all hiss

Can someone help?

Flac or converted to mp3

first time with this problem

Can someone please add a seed?

Thank you
