Many thanks to Bill for helping us out with the seats and the heads up to those folks that could have shut us down.
We did a pretty good job about not being obvious about it. Well, until the end when we broke down with the lights on.
It's really dumb to tell the fans of a band that they aren't allowed to tape when the band openly allows it. It doesn't affect them in any way.
I can/have taped MANY bands @ Central Park's Summerstage, starting in '97. Never had a single problem. So, why the issue with Celebrate Brooklyn? Knuckleheads.
"Oh, we have to be different from Manhattan". Stop trying so hard....
It's REALLY too bad that we couldn't also get the Ribot set. It was excellent.
We crept the stand up as the set went along, if we had only known we could went higher :)
Peace,

| I wish they would do some kind of mini-tour with Ribot. Kind of like what they did with Oren Bloedow in 2000 and Oliver Wood in - was that 2006? My memory escapes me. I dug those shows too but I just prefer Ribot. He gives them that "edge" and is a monster on the improv. My personal favorite Ribot shows were the 3-10-96 and 7-2-05 shows. |

archive, shack, scott -- THANK YOU ALL!!!! I've never had the pleasure of having a CB gig boot, and this was DEFINITELY a show not to pass up. so thanks a TON again!
ABSOLUTE GROVEL: I saw Bill Frisell play CB two summers ago, and he played his soundtracks to the silent films of Buster Keaton, as well as a musical soundscape accompaniment to an ink-blot morphing projection. if ANYONE has this, I will perform awful deeds for a copy. or just thank you endlessly. until you're sick of hearing it. so, to start off, thanks in advance!
and, again, thanks for stealthing this bad boy! AMAZING set... |

Have you seriously listened to this?
The bass drum distorts the recording.
The highs sound ok but the mids and lows wreck the recording. This is more than likely from having to have the
mics so low and semi-stealthed.
Not sure what you two are listening to but........

Yea, being one of the tapers of this gig I have to agree with newplanet. The bass is very heavy, which was def caused by having to stealth. The Douchebags @ Celebrate Brooklyn can be blamed for that
The mics were set @ maybe 4ft, = to theneck/head of the person sitting in front of us. The shirt we had covering the stand didn't cause the problem as it was not touching the actual mics in any way, as they were sticking out to the right and left.
When I listen to it I have the BASS set real low to compensate.
Still, nonetheless, it's not a terrible stealth job, I have heard MUCH worse and it's still enjoyable.

| yea... I thought about correcting myself, but thought the torrent was dead. turns out it only sounded that good through my nicest speakers - a bit of a trickier listen elsewhere. still, I'm just overjoyed to have a Celebrate Brooklyn show on tape :-) |
