tracking and edits in Sound Studio - fades, some clapping and obnoxious whoos compressed. Otherwise the full dynamic range of the performance is intact - the levels may seem low to start but crescendoes hit full scale.
SBE fix and conversion to FLAC in xACT.

Does anybody know if there's still a hole in the fence so we can visit the venue when there's no show? |

Most times if you visit during the afternoon when school is in and there is no show, you can just stroll in through the fron gate. I haven't been up there during those times in a while, but you used to be able to walk the stage. If you ever get the chance... what a trip.
Mark was good last night. A little more docile than he was when he played here with Emmy Lou.
His voice was a little scratchy at times, might of had a cold... Summer here is Winter everywhere else. |

Whenever someone I knew from the Beast coast was traveling to the Bay Area, I would send them with a walkman, a pair of Sony MDR V-6 cans, and a couple of my Greek OTS AUDs.
I'd tell 'em, "go sneak into the Greek, and get a spot midway up the bowl, put on the headphones, hit play, and slowly close your eyes as the crowd sound fades in."
... I got quite a few babbling cell phone calls from my friends who tried it!
Try it yourself.
The effect is lost with FOB recordings, and enhanced (obviously) with an ORTF config.
Imagine what it must be like to sit in that empty venue, and through the power of a recording be completely transported. Wait-you don't have to imagine it! There's no place I've taped that can come close to The Greek for this exercise.
