This was supposed to be an outdoors anniversary festival/party for a Lincoln blues bar called the Zoo Bar. Every other band on the schedule played. Charlie Musselwhite preceded Jason. Isbell was to take to the stage @ 11:00PM. Charlie finished up at 10:20-ish. The sound guys immediately began covering up the board with a tarp, claiming severe thunderstorms were headed our way. Once they covered up, they began uncovering, then immediately began to pack up, along with all of the stage gear, saying the show was off due to weather.
Darby and I packed up, and sat around deciding what to do. I sent by brother inside of the Zoo Bar to secure a spot, hoping Isbell and the boys would play inside. We asked around, wondering if they would play, and we were told no way, there was another act scheduled to play inside. The rain hits, we go inside for a cold one (or two...). There's an acoustic guy up on stage, and he plays 2 songs, and says "the band that was supposed to play outside is on their way, and they're going to play inside for us. " Hell yeah. This place has a max capacity of prolly less than 125 people, vs. the giant crowd that had been outside earlier. Jason and the boys come in, set up, and procede to rip shit...
They played as long as they possibly could, as bar time is 1:00AM in Nebraska.

| im collecting as many isbell shows as I can....the new CD is excellent. this show sounds really really cool. if anyone can seed for me for a little while that'd be great. thanks! |
