Bluestone Company is a group from Osaka, Japan. They have been known as the band which plays with Chris Duarte for these couple of years among the Chris Duarte fans but they had played internationally before they started to play with him.
They were originally formed as “The Savoy Truffle” in 1990. The Savoy Truffle played not only in Japan, but also in the U.S., Europe and Asia. They even opened for Gov’t Mule, moe. and Little Feat in Japan, also played at Japan Blues Carnival on the same stage as Otis Rush and Eric Sardinas. They had an experience to perform at the Fuji Rock Festival in 2004, too.
The singer left them in 2004. In 2005, Toshi, Yoshi, Taizo and Taro formed a group and it is Bluestone Company.
I have been a long time Chris Duarte fan, but I’d love many people to hear Bluestone Company itself, too. Fortunately, I have had several times to see them playing on their own. They sound differently than when they play with Chris Duarte. Their sound reminds you of ABB, Gov't Mule, Derek Trucks Band, Aquarium Rescue Unit, Widespread Panic and a lot more.
