I downloaded this set. Or at least I thought I did. For whatever reason the tracker said I downloaded the project completely, but none of the individual shows were downloaded.
Anyone have any ideas on this?

In case it might help anyone who reads this thread and has a problem like jddjirikian described above:
If you encounter a situation where your torrent client (in concert with the tracker it is checking with) tells you that you have successfully downloaded a torrent, while other means of checking your fileset (e.g., Traders Little Helper, Torrent Spy, etc.) tell you have none of the download AND you cannot directly open any of the files (and maybe can't even open the folders) you may have a problem with one or more filenames being too long. This can very easily occur if you have a fileset that ends up pretty deep in your directory structure as every folder in that file's path adds characters (sometimes a LOT of characters) to the actual pathname of the file. I can't explain the details b/c I'm not technically talented enough, but even a single filename that is too long can keep the entire download from being checked correctly or accessed. The same problem can create other weirdnesses like not being able to access choices when you right-click a file or folder, double-clicking one file and having another open or otherwise react, etc.
The most straightforward way to remedy this situation is to change the name of one or more of the directories in the filepath to very short names that will bring the individual file's full pathname back under the allowable limit and make them accessible again. Then you can move the files, archive them, or whatever else you need to do. This very frustrating when it occurs and can cause you to suspect all kinds of terrible and weird things about what's gone wrong with your files, your software, or your hardware. If you encounter phenomena that seem almost too weird to describe: FIRST INVESTIGATE THE POSSIBILITY OF FILENAMES BEYOND THE ALLOWABLE WINDOWS/EXPLORER LIMIT OF 256 CHARACTERS IN THE FILESET!
I learned this from very hard-earned experience, including deleting complete filesets that I thought were totally corrupted when they were in all likelihood completely fine except for one or more filenames that were too long. I hope it helps someone else from having the same frustrations. |
