This was a really fun show and a great start to fall tour.
Some very big highlights in this show of classic Phish songs played in unusal ways.
First off Stash is a monster , i have never heard the song played like this , Mike and Trey go completely into another zone , leaving behind the usual Stash build and release.
This is a very spacey otherworldly Stash and the typical ending almost comes as an afterthought .
Tweezer is the best Tweezer of the year , soaked in improv , Trey rides a wave of distortion towards the end like a surfer hanging 10 in a massive curl.
YEM is given the full treatment , with each section completely formed and jammed out in detail.
This YEM is a throwback to the YEMs of 94 .
It has to be said Mike is very prominent this show and many times he is leading the band .
The Phish Companion lists Ghost , Tweezer and YEM in there best of versions , my question is how did they forget the Stash ?
Enjoy play this baby loud!
Thanks for sharing.

| Oak Mountain was great except for the frat talkers. Memphis on the other hand was the best show i've ever seen. 2001 blew my head back. |

| For a guy who saw most of his shows in 91-95, this was a fantastic show with energy much like those older shows when Phish was still proving themselves. The place was mostly empty except for the floor and the crowd was much older and attentive than the hyped-up teens at much larger east coast shows around this time. The band appreciated this and the big BC phatty Page was handed from the front row as he left the stage for setbreak. Thanks! |

I find myself coming back to this show pretty often. Like mestioned above, the Twezer is perfect with a Ghost not too shabby either coming soon after. A good all around show and a great way to start the tour.
And a very good tour imho. For sure it's not the same as back in the day and the scene did change a little but so do we all and you gotta take it for what it is. I changed from 94' to '99 and so did the scene. You roll with it and take what you can and give what you can.
All in all a great time in my life. |
