Notes about the transfer: This show is brought to you by PFFP, the People for a Fade-Free Phish! ;-) Due to all the recent discussion/controversy over crowd fades during sets, I decided not to do any this time. Yes, you too can be the proud owner of an exact digital duplicate of the original DAT! Oh wait, but I did resample to 44.1. D'oh! Better luck next time...

There was a small glitch in "Ghost" that I fixed. It was a skip that was actually present on the DAT, oddly. I filled it in with a brief section of the song from a few seconds later. It's a little noticeable, but much less so than the skip was.

The only other notable thing is that there was a break on the DAT source between the end of Set 2 and the encore. I merged the crowd noise and omitted the break. But if you happen to notice an apparent cut in the crowd noise during that short break, that's the reason.

The DAT levels were super hot, so I didn't do any normalizing. Considering this was an outdoor show, it sounds quite nice. And it's not as boomy as the mystery Schoeps copy that most of us have already burned.

Enjoy!

Per request, different source than the previous seed a few weeks ago, enjoy.
ginsully 2008-09-25 21:45:34
these AKGs sound pretty decent, let me know if you find a difference
jmoleton 2008-09-25 23:29:16
Dude...thank you very much for fulfilling my request as promised...Kudos...I have some Schoeps source already (I think it is the unkown Schoeps source that is suppossed to be too bassy) I listened on my stereo speakers to both sources, and believe the Schoeps source to actually be richer and full sounding in bass, but not "too bassy" The akg source is a fine recording, but to my ears the bass sounded saturated. This of course is to my ears. I have loved Schoeps m222 tubes ever since I first heard 11/20-21/98 Hampton, so I may be biased. I am curious to hear how Schoeps m222 sounds in comparison to AKG and the unknown Schoeps source. However, someone made a comment on etree about how great the 'tubes" sounded, so I was curious and Beerman responded (thanks again!) There are other sources as well, but I am sticking with these for listening, and will let you know!

No problem man, from what I remember this source sounds excellent. Been a while since I listened to it :)

jmoleton 2008-09-26 14:19:53
Coleman, you're the one that burned me those unknown Schoeps source in the first place...my old friend, Coventry was fun wasn't it?
jmoleton 2008-09-26 14:21:35
Schoeps m222 tubes/Mk4 is my favorite of the 3 sources I have heard...all instruments in synch w/ sound...none drowns out the other!
jcoleman10 2008-09-26 19:05:31
Hahahah, if you call being awake for 48 hours, hiking 5 miles with a blister in Tevas, bathing in a pond and "The Curtain With" played in the wrong key "fun" then yeah! :)
jmoleton 2008-09-26 20:25:36
it was definitely fun w/ and w/o you! I would do it again in a heartbeat if I could
jmoleton 2008-09-26 20:26:16
