More On DTS

Today's audio standards are moving towards multi-channel
sound, like DTS and Dolby Digital. While the Audio-CD
standard (Red Book) hasn't changed to accommodate these
new sound formats, it is still possible to go around the
specification and to put a 5.1 surround recording on a
regular Audio-CD. To play a DTS-Audio-CD you must connect
your DVD/CD player via a digital cable (optical or coaxial)
to your DTS Dolby-Digital receiver. It is not 100% sure
that your receiver will recognize a DTS-Audio CD, so the
first time you're trying to playback a DTS-Audio-CD you
must do a test to determine if it can. Begin with the
volume very low, start the disc and raise the volume
gradually. NEVER listen to a DTS-Audio-CD through the
analog audio outputs of your CD/DVD player.

Burning Instructions
Burn them the absolute same way as you would burn any
normal Audio-CD from FLAC files.

Thank you! I truly enjoy GD 5.1 shows, they are remarkable!
rsandor 2008-10-04 22:59:00
can you play this on a regular cd player with good results?
awaker 2008-10-04 23:07:13
no you'll only get "white noise"
cosmicharley 2008-10-05 06:09:25
You MUST have a DTS capable player and a DTS capable amp to listen to this. IF you don't have the ability to watcg DTS encoded DVDs, grab a matrix of this instead... or UPGRADE_ Its totally worth it as these mixes ate the best
cosmicharley 2008-10-05 06:11:15
Aaah full of typos- I must remember to edit myself...
Watch
these mixes ARE the best!
Y'all know what I mean
johnlago2 2008-10-05 07:43:16
thanks , cap center was always a great time.

Can anyone please jump back on the 10/15/90 show for a while
its the only show I am missing from that run and would love to have it .. thanks
johnlago2 2008-10-05 07:44:34
sorry that was 10/15/89
astrnmyd 2008-10-05 08:53:31

when you say you burn these exactly as audio cds, how can that be...

first, these files will fit on standard 80 min. cds?

second, my regular burning program (nero) will recognize them?

help would be appreciated?
awaker 2008-10-05 10:12:29
they burn the same.you wont have a problem.i put music on dvd's but dts doesnt work anyone know why?
tbmcisp 2008-10-05 10:25:21
I have tried listening to this using 2 different
dvd players with optical and coax.
I always only hear hiss?
I burned it the same way I always do,
convert flac to wav then burn.
nab 2008-10-05 10:55:15
There has to be at least 4 things going for you in order to fully enjoy these mixes.

1. You have to have a playback device that recognizes DTS. Most, but not all, dvd players do. You will know if yours does, probably, by a DTS logo on the front of the player.

2. You need to have a receiver that recognizes DTS. Again, look into your owner's manual or google to find out if yours does.

3. The playback device and the receiver must be connected through either a coaxial cable or an optical cable. They cannot be connected via your regular old RCA cables.

4. You need to have at least a 5.1 speaker system connected to the receiver. This would include a front right, front left, center, rear right, rear left, and subwoofer.

**Important**

A breakdown in any part of this system will seriously impede your ability to listen to this fileset.

lynnzzz 2008-10-06 09:32:04
The Cap Center was most defiantly not a great time but the shows were usually pretty good. Thanks for this!
awaker 2008-10-07 09:39:47
lynnzzz, it sounds like you had a bad time,i allways enjoyed myself.
phayd 2008-10-13 13:17:54
I have to agree that the Cap Center seemed to get worse in the 90's.
