Great hanging with you this weekend Z. What a nice mix of music over the past 3 days. You definitely got me on the Railroad eating some Cornmeal now! I can see myself attending many or their show in the future.
Nice meeting a portion of team Pitt. this weekend,...... Bean, you are crazy man.... I can't believe you leave your gear around all those crazy's at Mr. Smalls! Also met a some cool guys from Team Philly, and many more who I can't quite remember right now due to excessive sleep depravation! I am telling everyone now, Z-Man is a robot..... This guys does not sleep!!
Derrick, thanks a million for the help getting me on the floor where I needed to be, and nice meeting you. I know your recording has to be smokin' too after listening to this one. Can't wait to hear the diff. between the TUBES and the CCM's.
Overall a great night of music..... Allmans were on point as usual, although it seemed that the crowd was most likely there for The Dead as the venue was rather empty until about half way through the Allmans set. I was very glad to hear, Statesburo and It Stoned Me from the Brothers. Also a very nice Whipping Post Encore.
Overall I feel this Show was very good considering the guys have not been together in 4 years. I do however feel they need just a little more practice time to get the flow going but it will come. All we can do is hope for more dates in spring *wink* Z got his U.S. Blues one song late as he predicted is to open, and I was a few songs late on my prediction of Playin' but we both did pretty well on song selection, as we were both expecting the Help>Slip>Tower and a Throwing Stones (obvious) to wind things down. I personally did not care for the Touch encore but they made up for it by going > to NFA. I think the Other One was probably my personal favorite of the night. They played it nice and strong and Phil was dropping some bombs. They did struggle with Dark Star and I think to that the plan was to go > to St. Stephen but they just lost timing on paused for about 10-15 seconds between songs. The transition from the jam in the mid of St. Stephen to the final verse was a little lack luster for my taste also, but overall the final thought of the show was that it was excellent..... Everyone off doing their own thing right now I am sure there was little time for practice between all the members last night and I am sure if they do decide to tour this spring we will see a much tighter band. I would most definitely travel far and near to see this line-up again. I really feel I got my money's worth last night. |

| I loved this show, raw, risky and primal. I was at this show, and I was blown away by the dead. They were far more interesting than the Allman bros. |

Thanks for all these fine and expeditious uploads of an important and special show from the boys. Since it is election season, I'm gonna cast my vote:
After sampling all of the offerings, it is my humble opinion that the Z-man's source is the most dynamic, with greater stereo separation, broader spectral frequency response and bigger sound with overall clarity. Derek's source is almost identical in every way, the only arguable difference being Z-man having slightly better recording levels. Just thought I'd throw that out there if you don't feel like taking the time to download all the sources and do a side-by-side comparison like I did (cause I have really bad OCD). |

I mentioned this to a few friends that were not in attendance that asked how the boys seemed to interact on stage. I thought they enjoyed themselves, Phil was by far the most excited and animated. I mentioned that Bob did not smile much and was kind of low key. Now I know why after seeing the Rolling Stone review:
Once again, Obama has raised the Dead: The remaining members of the Grateful Dead regrouped for the first time in four years at a “Change Rocks” fundraiser for Barack Obama at Penn State Monday night. Guitarist Bob Weir, babying a set of broken ribs, joined bassist Phil Lesh and drummer Mickey Hart. Drummer Bill Kreutzmann, who did not play at the “Deadheads for Obama” fundraiser last spring, flew in from his Hawaiian holdout to join the band.

| I flew from Portland Oregon to catch the show. i had a blast! state college totally transformed into a totally different place from saturday to monday, couldn't even tell it was the same place. i got to sit on the plane with kruetzmann and Hart...THERE IS FOR SURE GOING TO BE A SPRING 09 TOUR!!!!...they said that details will be announced sometime around christmas....and as it looks now its going to be a NE tour....im kinda bummed on the NE part as i am NW but at least they are touring....and they are doing that new years show in SF which i will be trying my hardest to get tickets for. as for mechandise, i talked to phils sound guy on the way to state college airport, he said he had to do with the fact that they didnt run the show it was a DNC show and i guess they dropped the ball on getting merch there. i was still kinda fryin when he told me bout it but that was basically the gist of it. |

If anyone has the ABB set, I would be HAPPY to start a vine for you and keep up with it. There is a LOT of "want" for that set. If you have a copy of the ABB set, PLEASE send it to me and I"ll start a vine. I've already got several people who think I have a copy and are emailing me to get on a vine for that show.

I see reference to the fact that they will be available in the tour announcement except for shoreline, but see no way to attain them at the moment. Cheers. |
