hey, NYsteve - I used to hang out with Mick (ER Junction Dead Night host - Tuesdays never ended until after 2:30 am back then, then up for work at 6 - wonder what my mother thought of those hours..?) He used to get some great Jamie tapes through Marty LaFica (and I had Mrs. LaFica as a teacher in high school!) I've got Jamie's recordings from the Poplar Creek shows in '82 - there's some filler called 'Bus Music', which was Jamie and Annette (with a little daughter at the time), and some guy named Norris, strumming guitars and singing tunes to pass the time between shows - I think they did most of 1982 and into 1983 on that bus (you too?) - the last Jamie tape I have from '83 is the amazing Seattle 8-27-83 show - what a recording!
anyways, great to see this show circulating again - my old cassette never sounded so good - Mr. Minches does great work!
listen for Jamie discovering the 10dB limiter switch during Deep Elem - don't crank the volume until that's happened!

PS - I heard that Jamie got into some financial holes he couldn't get out of easily, and pawned his tapes as collateral - sure hope that's not true...
if so, I've still got a bunch of lo-gen (1st-2nd) cassettes that could circulate...they are currently in someone else's hands, but if any prove to be the definitive source of a show (as determined by a panel of dedicated listeners), I'm sure that will get mastered and circulate eventually... |
