2nd set(Complete)
Front row recording!

I'm a Mule long-timer, but before the Columbus Matrix
earlier this year, I hadn't seen or recorded them in
seven years, mainly due to not really enjoying the
"bottom end" after Woody was gone. With the new bottom
so dynamic and loud(and "Thunderbirdy"), my interest
has been renewed.
The last onstage recording I uploaded of Gov't Mule
(Carbondale 1999) was downloaded over 1000 times
between this site and Dime, which was surprising
considering that a SB circulates of that gig. Thanks
for all the cool feedback on that, it makes all those
hours standing before doors open and afterwards before the
show starts feel a bit more worthwhile.
The taper Godz and Gremlins must have conspired against
Z-man and myself on this night(my 42nd B-day) in Michigan.
I myself was in a perfect spot to make a great capture, but
my buzzed butt forgot to erase the show already on my DR-1,
so my 1rst set ended abruptly around the 40 minute mark.
Needless to say I was crushed beyond words at my mistake.
My 2nd set came out complete and stunningly great, but it
would have been kind of pointless to upload it had Z-man not
had some issues with his 2nd set. So here it is. The sound is
amazing, All instruments are very present, but Warren's
guitar(straight from his amps) is king here. Just crushing.
It is also a different vantage point to check out the new guy,
as most of what you hear(and feel) is direct from his rig as
well. Very minimal and distant crowd noise for this type of
recording. Enjoy!

Just for fun I should put out the most "rare", one-of-a-kind Mule recording of all. That would be during the first set when security tried to tell me there was no taping! Got it all on my incomplete first set:(

imo you should upload your full recording, i.e. the incomplete first set and the complete second set in one torrent; and erase this torrent.
either way, thanks for the source! |

| I was only kidding, I'm not uploading the incomplete first set. The very best part is missing. |
| timburke |
2008-11-16 16:27:02 |
yes, the best part may be missing, but it's better to get sources out there if you're willing to share, no matter if they are complete or not.
there may be other tapers who need the part of the first set you recorded, to make their recording complete.
obviously do what you want, but the more sources, the better. |

| Gotta love "security"...they tried pulling that same crap with us in ATL this summer! Yeah, and the juiced bonehead with the 2" ponytail in Pittsburgh recently was a real "Saint"...Anyways, bummer with the Gremlins! Thanks for the source! |

| I second Tim's request - please seed what you have of the first set. That obviously makes the show more compelte than it is now. |

Thanks, I can't wait to hear this. Your two '99 stage recordings are two of my favorite Mule shows ever. The sound and vibe you got from recording on the stage is unreal. Looking forward to this.
I vote YES for the incomplete first set also. Better than 'nuttin. |

OH YAH," my buzzed butt forgot to erase the show already on my" R-09HR. I did the same thing at Allman Brothers Band here at Va. Beach in August.
I did get a good recording of Phil Lesh.
