Here is last night's Spikedrivers show from Toledo, Ohio. It was a cold, blustery night when I arrived at Mickey Finn's after working at the office on budgets all day and up until 9:30. I arrived and ran right into the band as I walked in. Had not seen them in almost 2 months. They were going to perform as a 6 piece, yeah! There was hardly anyone there, and I began to wonder, is this gonna be another lame crowd for these hard workin' musicians. I set up about 11' out next to the pole as I always do.
I hung out with Taper Todd and Pat, the Sound Engineer, prior to the start of the show. They hit the stage at about 10:40. A very nice set, that lasted close to an hour. A fine thing happened during the set, lots of folks began to arrive! The band was diggin' the crowd and it began to show from their performance.
The second set began to a very ambitious crowd. A nice Dylan cover to kick off the set. The rest ofthe set featured some of the usual fun songs we have grown to love. I spent most of the second break hangin' and talking with Megan. It was great to get caught up on a bunch of things.
The third set featured more favorites as well. I talked to Megan about a Jolene and she obliged the crowd, as well as me. Her voice on her songs was very strong, and the harmonies on Jesse's songs were great! You could see it all along that the band was groovin'! The American Girl>Dillenger that closed the set, kicked ass! Stephen A. led us through a Mountain Dew for the encore.
I had a blast hangin' with Sam, Alex, Bill, Bradley, and Todd.
