Notes: I feel this did not turn out well, probably just for collectors, the congress is, and never will be, the right place for
an acoustic bluegrass show. The sound engineer raised his levels and got the mix cleaned up in approximately song 3
and the show starts to sound a bit better. Grisman even makes a comment about he wanted to come out and play some
quiet music after the first song. The ambient level of the crowd is just overpowering the stage sound due to the low volume
of the stage PA's in this cavernous theater.

Well, I knew what I was getting into when they announced it was at the Congress I suppose, but I had high hopes nonetheless. It just wasn't to be, me and one other patcher tried to get soundboard feeds to no avail. There is a fairly exceptional amount of ambient crowd noise on this. The upside is, I noticed some AKG's hooked into the board and asked after the show to find out that supposedly this show was recorded as a 16 track soundboard with the AKG's as a matrix and will be released on Grismans acoustic disk site at some point to benefit charity. So... folks.... if you download this and like the instrumentation you should be able to pick up a nice matrix on the acousic disk site ( http://www.dawgnet.com/ ) and please do :)
Cheers all. |

| Grisman is definitely a tough show in a reverberant space, mostly because he doesn't use direct inputs for his acoustic instrument(s). There are usually numerous condensor mics on stage with alot of gain on them, making feedback an ever-present danger, & when the space is like the Congress it's a true battle for the poor soundman. |

| thanks for the upload, too bad it was at the Congress as that place has such poor sound, not a fan of that place at all! |
