Another fine recording provided by the Bluegrass Fan's Best Friend, Bill Koucky (though not part of the missing flac reseed project).

Bill G (SwaggerBobLee) requested this seed for his wife... happy to oblige. I do not have digitally and have not seen seeded the Seldom Scene set (and the finale with everybody) , though I have it on analog cassette.

I forgot to say Thank You (and Happy Thanksgiving) to Bill, and Sean, and to Bill Wolf (who presumably was the source of the sbd master) -- as well as Mr. Rice and the band, and all the old Birchmere rats -- good times.
SwaggerBobLee 2008-11-26 14:19:25

Buck,

You are The Best !!!!

Many thanks for the joy you've brought -

Happy Thanksgiving, All!
jdawg42 2008-11-26 15:16:04
Thanks for this. Thanks to you my TRU collection has tripled over the course of 48 hours.
buckaroobonzai 2008-11-26 15:41:32
Hey, it all came from time, work, and generosity of Bill and his acquaintances. Seeding is easy and takes little time.

I'm not a performer, I'm not a taper, and I'm not a transfer artist, to all of whom I bow. arigato gozaimasu!

Speaking purely as a collector of live music, there are only two "things"/motives/reasons that matter: (1) listening, appreciating, enjoying the shit! out of all this wonderful source; (2) getting, preserving (not altering source filesets) and freely sharing the good stuff with as many kind heads as possible. All other aspects are either just collecting-data-for-the-sake-of-data (OCD variant) or plain ego-boosting, unless I'm forgetting something else important.
SwaggerBobLee 2008-11-26 17:53:45

Any possibility of TRU 9/20/91 seeing the light of day, Sir?
buckaroobonzai 2008-11-26 19:45:29
That would be yes. Again, thanks to Mr. Koucky's generosity.
tiburdu 2008-11-26 22:48:50
Thanks again to all who made this possible!

bb, "All other aspects are either just collecting-data-for-the-sake-of-data (OCD variant) or plain ego-boosting, unless I'm forgetting something else important."

I agree 100%, which is why I tend to try to be picky about what I get (life is *literally* too short to collect and listen to *everything*, I mean, you'd have to have earphones on 24 hours a day 7 days a week to listen to everything, which would kinda take the fun out of it, for me at least), and why I occasionally delete stuff after I've downloaded it. My question (currently) is, "Is this gonna sound AWESOME in my truck (or other vehicle) barrelling down the highway (of life, even)? If not, that's strike one. Next, am I ever gonna want to hear this again *for historical purposes*, even if it's kinda poor sounding, sometimes certain stuff has either humorous or unusual or "conceptual continuity" clues [bits of the larger puzzle related to whatever mindset you're dealing with, Zapp, the Ded, Stones, Zeppelin, Beatles, Waits, Wailers, etc. that provide you with clues to what that artists' worldview is, or the message he's trying to get across with hs "art"], if not, strike two, and lastly, is there the possibility that *someday* [even though it might not grab my attention right now, or might not sound the best] I migth get into this particular recording, does it have that *soemthing* that might provide me with some great enjoyment, perhaps when I get into a particular artist more, or a particular era of music (say, late sixties stuff, perhaps I want to hear what Janis or the Allmans or Peter Green's Fleetwood mac were up to at that point, so I'll keep this recording and check it out more closely later, realizing that some of these torrents very well *might not* be available forever], if not that, strike three, "Why am I keeping this data that is taking up space on my hard drive that I could use to store soemthing that *does* fit those criteria? Now, I'd never analyzed it in that detail until just now, but I suppose if I were to put the reasoning I've been using (without thinking about it too much0 into concrete, that'd about sum it up. Point is: "Is this show WORTHY?!?" If not, pass or erase and move on to the next thing I can *actually listen to and enjoy*!!!

You are RIGHT ON in your assessment/reasoning in my book. I guess I can see the, not joy, but fulfillment on a certain level of collecting for collecting's sake, but if so, I'd hope someone in the future will be able to access that data and actually listen to and enjoy it!!!

Also: That's a BIG REASON I like people to be clear about the quality of recordings. It makes a difference, or to at least say, "This is only a so-sop recording, but the performance makes it worth it", ya know?

Thanks!!!
