| sound is a little rough on the 1st track, but sounds pretty sweet after that... i noticed a similar source in the db, so not sure if this is actually a new source to circulate & held off on submitting it to the db |

| One of Robert Randolph's first public appearances in NYC; certainly the largest venue to date, immediately preceding a year of legendary NYC area shows at the Wetlands, Mercury Lounge, Bowery Ballroom, Maxwell's & Stanhope House. |

I just compared to the circulating version (Schoeps CMC6/MK41 > Apogee AD-1000 > M1 > Soundforge 4.5 > CDR)
and i'm not convinced that they aren't from the exact same pull, I can't tell any difference except tracking.
thanks for sharing KC.. |

RBayers,
thanks for the info! the first track on the first disc should be a dead give away, because you can hear the taper adjusting levels, etc... i received these DAT's in a trade many years ago, and they were labeled as i listed it in the .txt file... i noticed there is a Schoeps tubes source in the db, but it indicates MK2 caps, not MK41... |

I taped this show as well and had the same overload during the opening tune. I think it hit every taper, we were alla bit unprepared.
I have always believed that MMW is the most difficult band to tape due to they way that they play: Some VERY quiet moments that barely register on our decks, followed by an explosion of the levels to 11!
Getting a classic pull of an MMW show is indeed a GREAT feat.
I taped every mmw 'ween show, with the exception of 2003 (Panic @ MSG won out that time) and love everyone one of them. 2000 and 2001 (w/ Kid Koala).
It still bugs me that they killed the tradition. The Japan 'ween show(s) pale in comparison to any of the NYC gigs.

I recommend anyone out there that does not have ALL the NYC 'ween gigs to find them all.
I'd rank them as follows:
1. 2000
2. 2001
3. 2006
4. 2004
5. 2005
6. 2002
7. 2003
I may be biased against 2003 as that was the only one I missed.
If you can find a FULL copy of the opening Antibalas set from 04, GET it. Mine cut with about 10min left. One of the most amazing experiences I have ever had @ a show was their intense version of "Indicted" on the eve of the 2004 election.
Also, if ANYONE out there has the 2001 Kid Koala set, please drop me a line. Next to a tour with Ribot, he's the guy I'd most like to see play with them again.
What's scary to me is that the 10.31.06 show was their last real Manhattan show. Hasn't been sh*t since then , just that free bookstore show 1.9.08. Yea, we got a Brooklyn gig in 9/07, but zero Manhattan shows.
What the %$&#!????

| When I compared, I only download a few tracks, and I didn't d/l and compare the first track.. so I guess I really can't say if this is a dif source or not.. it probably is, as it's marked with different caps. But they sound very very similar. |

I must have been thinking of another 'ween show. I listened to my copy and there are no problems during the beginning of We Are Rolling.
