Alpine and Sac-town 89 are two of the greatest all-time runs from the GD. The music was RAW and aggressive- I think by spring 90 it got a little too "jazzy" and they never regained that summer 89 grit.
Get it, dudes! |

that was a fun show! I loved how they mixed up the 2d set, and the Mr Fantasy/Hey Jude was something I haven't heard many of, so that was a treat.
And it really sounded like Jerry was having fun with Quinn, which made it even more enjoyable.

Thanks a lot!!
I love these Alpine shows, and I am sure a matrix is going to make them even better!
Should I keep an eye out for the 17th?...... I noticed there was a db entry for it. |

alpine valley 1989 is a near perfect three day run.
The 17th and 19th in matrix version would greatly compliment this show.
Yeah we had a tow truck pulling a tow truck pulling my car out of the mud.
A fourteen year old named Pee Wee was at the wheel of the second truck with a block of wood tied to his shoe so he could reach the pedals. His dad was manning truck #1.
Never seen rain quite like that, and unfortunately the Dead were never invited back, most likely due to the utter destruction of the lawn and all surrounding dirt parking lots....
The setlist from the 19th reflects the rain-theme and Desolation Row seemed oh so fitting....

I remember the blue flood lights pointing down from the top of the stage, creating this veil like effect as they crept into China Doll. Very powerful stuff.
There was also an inflatable brontosaurus bouncing around the crowd during this run.
Thanks for the uppload; I am very much looking forward to revisiting this exceptional show! |

| nickautry, unfortunately I didn't take meticulous notes when I did this one, which was a while back. I'm getting better about that now. I did listen to this matrix fairly recently, and I didn't notice any fuzziness. I can say that when I catch digifuzz and/or pops I try to do something about it, usually by cutting out that source for the length of the problem. If the problem is pervasive on a source, but not horrible to listen to, I will leave it as is, but usually I will abandon the project if there's pervasive noise on one source. |

| This is probably my favorite show of all time thanks a lot for the matrix. The first set is very tight but the second set is some of the best dead music EVER!!! |

Thanks, hansokolow, of course I downloaded it b/f I even heard your response ;-)
Thanks for all 3 of these. And I, too, was stuck in the mud til about 7 AM. We were finally able to push the car out...with the ladies driving, and me and my friend Bill pushing and covered head-to-toe in mud. Never had such a good campsite shower. Long live the Bong Rec. Area!!!

The Sugar Mags -> Scarlet transition in nearly seamless.
Was listening to this set on a streaming internet server, thought I'd download a matrix of it. Anyone seeding? If/when it downloads I'll keep it up for a while. |
