Thank You Gladug!
This was an absolute Mind-Blower of a performance! I've only had the opportunity to see them about a dozen times, the last time in '05 and this was a truly inspired moe. Maybe it was just the whole scene, but I'd rank this as one of the top 25 shows, of anyone, I've ever seen. The guitar work is so musically furious it bridges on the incomprehensible. Jams are seeded with Led Zeppelin and the Grateful Dead and the second set is so psychedelic I thought I was at the Fillmore West in '69. Anyone out there that's debating a download- grab this NOW- you will not be disappointed! |

Good times, my friends. Don't miss either show, but if you can only do one, this is THE one.
The boys were well stoked after a nearly five month vacation. Their first real break in 18 years and very much well deserved.
First set starts off tentative (to be understood...shaking off the rust and all that), but ends in epic fashion with the Head sandwich. The jam out of The Pit back into Head sounds like the band had been listening to Mahavishnu Orchestra on their time off.
2nd set and encore were simply off the hook epic. Again, not flawless (see above), but the passion and energy were well above max. Opium was so intense, I nearly cried. Invisible Sun *is* spot-on perfect and beautifully jammed out.
Night two was more "song" oriented and not quite as jammy, but still good fun. Check out the first time Mule cover, again done to perfection.
Many thanks to the CO taping crew for these. |
