Jmaneval generously uploaded shnid=8659 and I got excited about the set list, particularly the 21 minute Not Fade Away. Found this upgrade of that source. Enjoy!

Thanks. Lots of fun, saw many shows at Convention Hall and Casino Arena on the Boardwalk.

Wow--

Have this source & this is soooo close to what I'm seeking--do you happen to have this complete
source of the night before??:

"The tape with the last song has been found, and a completely new transfer (w/o DAE!) has been done. Despite some lingering questions about the mics, this new seed is closely-enough related to this one that I have decided to list it in comments here rather than as a whole new entry. It's a close call. Anyway, information follows below.

Would LOVE to get my hands on this version--can't seem to find a shnid on it, though. Thanks to anyone who has it & might consider uploading it!

Cheers!!

I've located jgb1977-07-08.late.moore.minches-jupille.17055, but the text file says it's the early show. Early show 17054 has a different set list, so 17055 might be the one. Here's from the text file, "Notes/Flaws:
- As of this .shn'ing (5/2003) the cassette with Tangled Up in
Blue cannot be located. It is patched in here from an older
transfer.
- This set improves on the older set at least insofar as both
Harder They Come and Midnight Moonlight are now intact (respectively
faded and clipped in on the old transfer).
- d2t04 Tangled Up fades in

A Moore's Masters Production, 5/2003."
I'll try to get this one tomorrow. If it's the right show, I'll up it soonest.

Yeah, Crank'y comment has the link to that show. From the tell of the version I have, it is a balcony recording. But, whoever did it(Moore), did as a good a job as any for that era, equipment used, and location in the theater. The Tangled Up is pretty sick, along with the almost 18 minute Knockin' the crowd was treated to beforehand. IMHO 01-26-76 through 11-04-78 was a brand of JGB that was within itself a brand a music that will never be matched on any level. Some people have theeir oen opinions which is fine, but those were the years. 1979 had some shining moment with Garcia tossing the Keystone one of the most epic Positivley 4th Streets ever on 12-21-79, and the whole Reconstruction thing had it moments. 1980 was big and wide with The Man spreading his band so far apart that the notes stuck out of the ground so far that you could run into them, and through them with gusto. I mean the technology at the time was coming around for Him and he was having a ball up on stage not having to worry about Weir, or Lesh, or whoever sticking their nose into His business, and fiddling around with the train that Garcia had managed to tame into a thought pattern of musicianship that can hardly be matched. This was his baby, and it shows. 1981 is so obscure because not alot of the music was being taped by the band(er, to busy partying, or whatever), but there are a hand full of gems like 07-26-81, which, once again, IMHO is the best JGB from that year, hands down. It was a year of change, with Garcia trying to find the sound he was looking for, and when he did find the sound later that year, and into 1982, it was the same sound, and personnel that would end up sticking with him to the end, only that sound would change along with the technological advances that were being made throughout the year. We all know of the story behind Lightning Bolt, but that changed his sound even more, more so within the Grateful dead that with JGB. But getting back to the 07-08-77 Mooore recording. It comes with virtually no hiss and you can hear the room as well as the music, and when those to items are present in a good ratio, it calls for a good recording. Hope you get it and enjoy it as much as I have, and I am a SBD ho.
