After work, I contemplated just chilin' for a night. Not. I had seen this scheduled at The Ark when I was there earlier in the week at the Iguanas show. I asked Jeff K if he had seen or recorded them. He had not. I decided to go at about 6:30. I grabbed the gear and headed up I-75>I-275>I94. Got there at 7:30, circled the block and parked right in front of the venue. The line waiting to get in witnessed a perfect paralel parking job by yours truly. Terry was in charge of sound and I inquired about recording. He went back to ask. He came back in a couple of minutes with Kevin of Guggenheim Grotto. We got to meet and he was very cool with it. I will make sure he gets either cds or the link so he can grab the show. Most of today's musicians understand that getting their show out there, only helps promote their band and the music they play. Let's face it, how many times have you downloaded a show out of curiousity, and then enjoyed it so much, you bought a ticket and went and saw the band!
Kevin and Mick took the stage shortly after 8:10. The entire time they performed, you knew these guys from Ireland were having a very good time. IT looked as though there were about 150 folks in the Ark on yet another frigid February evening. We were treated to a fun show. Terry had the sound in the room dialed in very nicely. Good seeing Robin there. I made a couple of new friends, which is always nice. Karen of plumjoe.com interviewed the guys prior to the show. I lok forward to reading it.
They played one set and an encore. I was able to squeeze it on a single disc. I like the way they went from Philosophia>Rocky Racoon>Philosophia. It was a seemless transition. Some of the stories between songs were amuing. The crowd participation for Fee Da was a nice touch. Some very nice songwriting. Mick played acoustic guitar for almost every song. He did play a Ukelele for two songs. Kevin played his electric keyboard. There is also a baby grand that is always on stage. Tonight, we got to hear it as Kevin twinkled the ivories for a couple of songs.
A very mellow evening of some good music. The recording sounds as good as I expected. With an early ending, I had the opportunity to hit Sushi Town for the C1 Combo, extra spicy! They are priced so reasonably. For a quick pick up, I call 734-327-TOGO.

| Hey Z! Nice review...out of curiosity...well, yup I'm gonna download this one! It is always wonderful to hear bands are taper friendly! You are right, it can only help promote the band! Extra spicy sounds good right about now! Thanks for the taper effort here! Much appreciation. |
