I hope I got the setlist right, it bears little resemblance to an "official setlist" (picture included). Corrections welcomed.
I had a blast again, you deserve to see one of his shows soon, pick up a disc, and check out the nifty swag. The tour schedule is available via his website http://www.derektrucks.com/events (thanks badger6!)
I remembered about last time and set lowcut=1, still its a zoom-h4 from the back of the room, save room for desert, momule was there with his better gear just in front of the sbd and plans to seed.

why would you tape from the last row in the balcony? next time try

because that is basically where momule was with killer gear?
Many times i have selected to sit in the back of the balcony by choice, and have often liked the way it sounds. I think there are three effects at work. First I am not in the middle of the crowd so the crowd noise is not as extreme. Second i think there is a closed pipe effect near the back wall. The sound is not as volatile due to a dampening effect of the wall. Third it places the whole event in front of me and i can take it all in with one view.
Last time momule was there too, and so i choose to find another place to record and selected said "last row". I liked the feeling of that recording, the way the room and crowd noises worked into the mix. Momule produced a great recording, but if i felt mine wasnt any good i would never have posted it, but i liked it and thought you might too. If i was the only taper i would have gone for the sweet spot he was in, and i realize i could have set up next to him. But all that would have done is create a second similar recording on lesser gear. Knowing momule was going to have his normal great stuff i wanted a recording that presented a different aspect of the show. Again i think its a good recording, and i hope you enjoy it. If i thought it didnt present dTb well i would never have shared it.

Thanks,didnt bother me, and i thought it was a good answer. and its a real treat to have you help with the LMA lunchbox0016, thanks.
i think i have more of my answer. in the middle there are isolated crowd yells, where a couple are loud enough to pump up the room and get some natural reverb. its a nice warm kinda medium length reverb. thats what i want to listen for on momules recording and i think i got what i was looking for. there will be a melloing to mine thats the room effect up there. Its a nice room.
and ya know even tho it looks like the whole thing has been stalled for like 14 hours, its still going via peer exchange. i dunno maybe someones got it up on a secondary tracker too. Long live bittorrent and the internet philosophy of routing around failures! |
