A big statement I know, but this AUD is just SICK, SICK, SICK!!
Thanks to Scott &Boris for their amazing recoding. This has a much better bottom end and clearer vocals than all the other AUDs I have checked out. Plus, rather than rush the recording to see who can be first, they MASTERED the recording so it is best.
Yes, some still think BEST is better than first. And this blows away all the other AUDs I have checked out (no, I haven't heard every single one) but of the many I did listen to (including the schoeps FOBs, etc) this one is far superior. And that ain't an opinion...it is fact.
Enjoy and play it REALLY loud! |

LOL this sounds like the same kind of enthusiasm for the shows. I'm with the above. I'll download it for the confidence. 80' spread is big time trouble without a scope. But maybe you pulled it off in post.
I love that these shows are creating so much Buzz!!! |

Yupper. Sadly the next 2 nights have some issues. The virgin run went off without a hitch but the next 2 nights, although 99% there, will require some additional mastering including some patching. |

| I'd be interested in hearing some feedback from folks who've downloaded this, especially with the caveat that the PA feed wasn't substantially "seperated." Still, an 80' spread with proper post- can provide a real feel for the arena. Anyone care to offer post-listening opinions? |

"18 feet from left stack + 18 feet from right stack"
I gotta laugh at that line. Unless you were sitting in the first few rows of the risers just next to the stage there was no way the stands/mics were 18 feet from the stacks. Anybody that was there could see how high the stacks were. And they were a helluva lot higher than 18 feet.
If this sounds the best then more power to ya for your eforts. I'm prety sure that the MK-22's will still be the best sounding pull from this weekend. Funny thing is that it seems to be the least DLed.
As far as the PA sound, I was vey happy with the work of the new sound guy. With one exception.... there appeared to be very lil stereo seperation/ panning. Not sure if that is his way of doin things, what the band wants or really just a symptom of the way the band is set up on stage. Kinda hard to do a pan on the drum kit when it sits on the side of the stage.
I will DL a few tracks from this to see how it sounds....and in the meantime folks do yourself a favor and check out what Jason is seeding w/ the MK-22's.
All of our ears AND stereos are diff.......ENJOY....gotta love the modern world and the abilty to have multiple sources within a week of the shows!!! 20 years ago I was happy to have 2nd/3rd gen cass tapes a month or two after a Dead show! |

superlatives...eh, well, ya know...
i am openly suggesting a HIDE PHISH HAMPTON button up top. there have a been a couple of gems (no relation) seeded in the last 7 days but are difficult to find due to all the hampton sources...just a thought, and i'm not hatin on hampton. happy last day of the weekend...cold and rainy here in hampton where a week ago it was happy, sunny, hot, and high. |

More clarification in an email from 1 of the tapers:
"about the separation, you are correct but not for the right reason. In order to get this sounding just exactly right we had to utilize a little left right panning. About 85/15."
So that explains that. As for as this goes:
> "18 feet from left stack + 18 feet from right stack"
> I gotta laugh at that line.
Maybe it was 20 feet? But for the record, each taper stood side stage about 10 rows up, smack dab in front of each stack. 80 feet is approx too. Nobody measured anything.
And finally....this is better than the KK-22's to my ears. Again, no measuring, just making an observation on what seems obvious. |

While I applaud your enthusiasm, and can certainly appreciate a good split omni source (Im an avid AKG omni user myself) I can't help but think it comes off a bit arrogant and disrespectful to all the other tapers to come on here and declare this source to be the "best aud period" and state it as FACT, not opinion. I mean isn't the whole thing about subjectivity and deciding FOR YOURSELF what sounds best? As a previous poster pointed out, all ears and playback systems are different, what is best to some may not be to others...
I don't know, maybe its just me, just kinda rubbed me the wrong way to come on here and toot this source's horn and put all the others down as far inferior. Why not let other listeners decide that and give the praise if indeed it deserves it?
All that said, this is a rather intruiging source and Im definitely curious to hear how an 80' split sounds. I'd be worried about the "hole in the middle" effect with a split that wide...
Thanks for the source, I hope I'm not out of line with my opinion on the comments. Thats just the way they struck me.
