|Hello Folks, sorry for the late post on this. A great show from RRE this night at the Chicago HoB. Allie Kral as a guest is always a welcome treat!
I took feeds from the other 2 tapers on this and did a quick mixdown of the 6 channel, here is the result of our combined efforts for the night. I feel the second set sounds a little better than the first. Thanks to all involved! Enjoy folks
Special thanks to Nick Autry for keeping the wooks off my rig!! you rock buddy! had a great time hanging out.
|taperj, seeing that you're a constant around the Chicago music scene I was hoping you'd be running a rig last night. I'm pulling this now and will post it on the LMA, if you don't have plans to do so already. Thanks for the pull - it was a great show and my first RRE.
|Heya lunchbox0016, yeah, I definitely wouldn't have missed this one. I'll be putting it up on the LMA once the torrent seeds. Thanks for the offer on doing so :) Glad to have been able to tape your first RRE show! Enjoy!
|thanks for this show, we made it to the In-Store Performance but had other plans in the evening so we had to miss this, it looks like a great show!...is there any chance that you are taping Sexfist at the Red Line Tap on Tuesday? if so check out the opener Eric Nassau & Megan Palmer, they are two excellent artists!
|THX Jen, try nadys with loyal peeps... simple amazing.
|Some very nice high quality photos were taken of this show and are available for viewing here courtesy of Chad Smith...
|I woke up this morning to a finished torrent and listening to it now. The sounds is EXCELLENT! Very nice pull.
|thank you! :)
|Allie Kral rocked it 1st set! Always a good time hoboing around w/ RRE!
|awesome show, thanks as always john!!!
|good to see ya again, John! -N
stay in touch re: shows...
|John just wanted to let you know my source is AKG c34>S42>V2>722 (XY cardiod)
|Nice Staggolee! I was looking all over for a spec on that mic to show a friend and couldn't find one! Glad you posted the correct info!
Was great hanging out, I'm sure I'll see ya down the road!
|Same here. Did a bit of blind (recorded a disc in random order and checked the sources after) comparison between the 6 ch and the 2 ch c34.
On my playback system (see below) I like the c34 2 ch more. Lighter on the bottom end and has more "air" and space in the top end. Just has a lighter overall sound. I am, however, very impressed with the mixing job. No issues with artifacts at all that I have heard on multiple source recordings on different stands. I think part of the issue with the top end clarity is simply because of the phase difference using 2 sets of A|B mics a few feet apart as opposed to any issues with the mix. I'll have my source up in a few minuets.
Playback: Denon DVD3910>Audio Experiences Symphonies Tube Pre [Electro-Harmonix/12AX7 Gold Pin ]>Rogue 88 Amplifier [Genalex Gold Lion KT88s, ultralinear]>Sonus Faber Grand Piano Home & Martin Logan Depth i - AudioQuest Jaguar and CV-8 DBS cable, Panamax M7500Pro conditioner.
|then put yo shit up, cherry boy. ;-) j/k...2 copies is enough for me....the best time was had >at< the show....
peace, Josh...good to see ya. N
|Awesome review from a great system Staggolee! Thanks! Definitely glad to hear you liked the mixing, I think all the sources turned out great and I was just happy to be able to give the 6 channel mix a go! Definitely a worthwhile venture.
